What a magnificent hotel, steeped in history and stories, some of them quite small, judging by some reviews. Yes, this hotel has retained its original character and could use a few touches here and there, but that doesn't detract from its charm (everything in its own time, because if some people had done their research, they would have known that the current owner only bought the hotel in 2024). The rooms are more than adequate, offering excellent value for money. This château benefits above all from the exceptional kindness of the four people who manage this grand building. They are all charming, approachable, helpful, and accommodating. The ladies at reception and breakfast are accommodating and offer good advice. The chef has a small menu because he works with fresh produce, and his cuisine is delicious (I declare that I found the best chocolate mousse I have ever tasted here!). The restaurant only seats 16, so you get both excellent cuisine, a fantastic setting (a huge, medieval-style room), and, as an added bonus, privacy. The receptionist/waiter/host is kind, open, humble, and also offers good advice; he's incredibly generous. He's a generous person (something sorely lacking in others). Furthermore, Bricquebec is strategically located, making it easy to explore the entire Cotentin peninsula. Grumpy, grumpy, grumbling, and other killjoys, even killjoys: keep walking! If you enjoy new experiences, are curious and open-minded, come to the Hostellerie du Château de Bricquebec to taste the food (and a very good Bénédictine), meet other people (the setting is perfect for that), and, if you're discreet, listen to the music of Satie played during the quieter hours of the day by the kind host.

The location is magnificent. The superior rooms are a bit small and lack charm, but they are functional. However, despite the very helpful staff, the breakfast unfortunately doesn't live up to the setting or the price. It consists mainly of processed foods, like sausage that no one eats, no hard or cooked cheese for pregnant women, and a lack of fresh fruit, cucumber slices, or tomatoes (when they're in season), and whole-wheat bread. It's a real shame in such a beautiful establishment and doesn't encourage guests to have lunch or dinner there.

**Delighted with our stay, and yet I'm rather critical and demanding.** After all, once you've chosen the neighborhood, the style, and the level of luxury, a hotel has a fairly simple function: you drop off your things, shower, relax, and sleep. In this respect, the Hostellerie du Château de Bricquebec has something that many modern hotels simply cannot offer: the majesty, history, and charm of a real castle. And here, the beauty of the site and its location already justify, in my opinion, a good part of the price. For me, the first thing that pleasantly surprised me was **the welcome**. We were expected at 4 p.m. At the last minute, I asked if it would be exceptionally possible to arrive around noon, as we had a wedding in the afternoon. I was obviously expecting a refusal, or at the very least, a "we'll see what we can do." The favor was granted immediately, with a smile, and, even better, our room was ready. For my wife and me, before the wedding, this small gesture was particularly appreciated. We were warmly welcomed at reception and then escorted with our luggage to our room. It may seem trivial, but it's precisely this kind of attention that makes all the difference in a hotel. And, to be perfectly honest, it's not something that happens to us regularly, even in 4-star establishments. Some details are also quite elegant. The bed is modern and comfortable. The bathroom has genuine Merbau flooring with black silicone grout: a choice that I personally quite liked. The shower was large, comfortable, and pleasant to use. Breakfast was perfectly adequate. Scrambled eggs weren't offered that morning, so I made myself two soft-boiled eggs instead. Nothing dramatic in my opinion. So yes, some points could be improved, as some comments have already pointed out. Air conditioning would be welcome during the heatwave. Better soundproofing from the street side would probably be appreciated. And some services could certainly be modernized. **But that doesn't make me forget the most important thing: we had a very pleasant stay.** With the heatwave having subsided, we slept very well without air conditioning. And since our room overlooked the castle courtyard, we experienced no noise disturbances. It was fantastic! These days, especially in France... managing a hotel isn't easy. This obviously doesn't mean that everything should be excused. A customer pays for a service, and it's perfectly legitimate to expect a certain level of quality. But it's also possible to point out what isn't working **without losing sight of the context in which the service is provided**. Reading some of the comments, I sometimes get the impression that this nuance is being lost. One can certainly point out a flaw without each imperfection becoming a major source of dissatisfaction. For our part, we appreciated the location, its history, its tranquility, the comfort of our room, and the rather unique experience of sleeping in a castle. We also appreciated the warm welcome we received and the staff's ability to be helpful with simplicity and good humor. As for those who criticize the establishment for its "90s" decor, I must admit that amuses me somewhat. After all, we are in a castle whose history dates back to the 11th century. The windows in the galleries, and even those in the bedrooms and bathrooms, are genuine stained glass with lead cames. It would be quite surprising if it resembled a modern, standardized hotel. **In short: a few points could certainly be improved. But a truly wonderful experience, in a place that possesses a soul that many modern establishments will never have.**

Establishment closed for holidays. Good evening, a little politeness wouldn't hurt. I made a mistake; I rated the setting, the park. Not your restaurant or your hotel. Too bad. Please don't see this as an attack; others have done that. However, you could have looked into why I rated something I don't know. I will be more vigilant. Perhaps in exchange for a little tolerance. Unless, of course, you prefer only positive reviews. Sincerely, Pascal.

A very beautiful medieval hotel with a stunning facade and a magnificent location in the castle courtyard. Unfortunately, the service is just like the castle itself: medieval! The service is minimalist... you even have to ask for toilet paper. But the worst part is the price of breakfast, which is clearly exorbitant: no choice (croissants for five days straight and nothing else), supermarket tea from E. Leclerc (I have better at home), no fruit, etc. The tablecloths aren't changed after you leave, and the next day you find the crumbs from the previous day's breakfast. To be thorough, the rooms are dated, as is the bathroom, but the bedding is comfortable and the hotel is quiet. In short, this hotel isn't something to avoid as I've read, but I advise against staying more than one night or having breakfast there. And as for the restaurant, I don't recommend it if you enjoy good food. It's not great, and the service is extremely slow even when it's not busy. And finally, I agree with the comments from other dissatisfied customers, but not with the hotel manager's responses, which are clearly disingenuous. It's a shame because there's real potential. The manager should take the feedback into account instead of accusing dissatisfied customers of lying. Personally, I wouldn't have spent so much time writing this review if all of this weren't true.
