L'Orchidee sur Les Herbiers

I have rather mixed feelings about my experience there. The interior setting is nice, and the atmosphere is pleasant too. But the prices are rather excessive compared to the quality of the dishes, which, while nicely presented, are nothing special. Small portions, uninspired dishes, a lack of finesse... in short, not an amazing result. The foie gras, which was an extra charge on the set menu, disappointed me. The dish didn't leave a lasting impression (after eight days, I've forgotten about it). I only truly enjoyed the strawberry and Troussepinette dessert... a flavor I rediscovered a few days later in a strawberry and Troussepinette jam I bought locally. Compared to my culinary experiences in other restaurants with similar prices (and sometimes in more touristy areas), I expected much better. A bit disappointed.

The welcome is both professional and friendly. The dishes are very well prepared. The desserts are truly excellent.

The main course was very well cooked; the meat was excellent and tender. The dessert was good, but nothing special.
