We had an absolutely wonderful time at L'Orée de la forêt. My wife and I stayed in Amiens for a long weekend 5th wedding anniversary and drove to the venue for our celebration lunch. We were fortunate to have a warm, sunny day so enjoyed an aperitif on the terrace overlooking the beautiful tree lined gardens. Whilst on the terrace we were treated to several canapé style dishes, the majority thoroughly enjoyed, those less preferred were at least still interesting taste combinations which were not always to both of our tastes but we could still appreciate the thinking behind them for certain palates. After these we were moved into the dining room by the kind and friendly front of house who were very accommodating of our lack of understanding of the French language. For the meal itself; nearly each and every dish was an absolute delight. Some of the best presented and tasting food we have ever eaten. Including canapés and snacks we must have had 13-14 rounds of plates and we loved nearly every single one. The only dud dish for us was a rhubarb rum baba style pudding which we both felt had far too much raw alcohol to really enjoy and wasn’t to either of our tastes. For highlights, the vegetable garden dish, sweetbread main and strawberry waffle dessert were absolute treasures. The service throughout was impeccable and. It at all stuffy or pretentious. Overall we had a wonderful experience and wouldn’t hesitate to return to L’Orée again in the future as it was worth every penny

A big thank you to chef Nicolas for this journey of our eyes and taste buds into his garden of flavors and to his team, in particular Yolaine, for her explanations and her kindness. The magnificent setting serves as a backdrop for this inventive and exquisite cuisine.

Very nice discovery! Warm and smiling welcome. From appetizer to dessert, it's an explosion of flavors. Congratulations to the chef and his team. The star is well deserved. Very beautiful garden with a beautiful terrace. We will come back.
