L'Orée du Bois sur Gumieres

A restaurant well worth the detour. A warm welcome from Alexis and Sarah, young people who deserve to be encouraged and who bring life to the village of Gumières. A menu that changes monthly, with three choices of dishes. Excellent value for money. We never tire of these delicious meals. Don't hesitate to go and try it for yourself!

A first in this small, rustic, cute restaurant, surrounded by greenery. The welcome is perfect, without fuss, the dishes are delicious, and the value for money is unbeatable! I recommend it with pleasure, and afterward, a digestive stroll through the village with the breathtaking view will be the icing on the cake.

A wonderful discovery in the small village of Gumieres, this restaurant, run by a young couple, offers delicious, well-prepared dishes cooked to perfection (kudos to the cook!). For starters, we tried the chicken pie and the egg mayonnaise, which, with its flavor, was reminiscent of the dishes from old-fashioned brasseries when they actually cooked their food properly. For the main course, the slow-cooked pork tenderloin was served with lemon rice. The dessert was original: a chocolate cake (thankfully without the usual frozen molten center!) topped with a delicious pistachio cream. The set menu is €19.50! Kudos for the warm welcome, the food, and the value for money. A place worth supporting.

Hidden away in the Gumières valleys, this restaurant would be packed in Paris. Dinner on a Saturday night after a sporting event. No wait. The service is quick and efficient, without any unnecessary pressure. The owner welcomes you as if you were returning for the tenth time. The cook comes by too. It makes all the difference. Baked egg for a starter. Lamb shoulder for the main course. Almond tart for dessert. Nothing to change. The cooking is perfect. The seasonings are spot-on. You can tell it's a carefully crafted dish, not just a mechanical execution. The almond tart deserves special mention. Simple on paper. Perfect on the plate. The highlight is twofold: the taste and the welcome. It's rare to find both at this level. An address to remember without hesitation.
