The food is of high quality, the tableware is very aesthetic, the servers are friendly and have a good sense of humor, the service is quite fast, the dishes are well presented, and the table layout is pleasant.

My parents and I stumbled upon L'Orée du Bois and we were delighted.
There's no bistro, no brasserie, no fancy lighting here. You walk into a traditional restaurant, the kind we've almost forgotten about, with real tablecloths and starched napkins, impeccably ironed and folded. It's a bit old-fashioned, but charming.
You'll find business lunches, family gatherings around grandpa, couples of all ages, the residents of the Silver Fox retirement home enjoying a gourmet meal, and people like my family and me who just happened to be passing by at the right time, feeling peckish. It's busy, which is a good sign.
The welcome might seem a bit cold at first, a bit like the owner (I think she's the owner), but that's just a first impression (we had a couple of amusing exchanges later on; I'm a bit of a dry wit myself). You will be welcomed efficiently, politely, and warmly.
The food is truly excellent and of high quality.
On my first visit, a spontaneous lunch, I was pleasantly surprised to see sweetbreads with morels on the menu. It was delicious.
Since everyone enjoyed it so much, we decided to return to celebrate a birthday and ordered a full menu.
The standout dishes for our group were the fish soup (flavorful and generously served with quality cheese and a clearly homemade rouille sauce), the risotto (with its beautifully cooked fish), and the foie gras (an excellent slice that might leave you wanting more).
Yes, the slice is thin, but it's included in a full menu for under €45 (€42 if I remember correctly), so it's reasonable.
While some prices may seem a bit high, they reflect what you get on your plate: quality ingredients prepared with care and professional expertise. Since this is a professional review, I'll allow myself to offer some criticisms. Specifically, the meat sauces seemed to be made from the same stock, and the presentation was a bit too simple.
Okay, I'm really nitpicking; the sauces are well-prepared for each dish. Even if it were the same stock, it's a very good stock.
For the profiteroles, I would have preferred several small ones instead of two large ones.
The linguine with butter and sweetbreads is unexpected and a bit simple, but it works with the morel sauce.
The food isn't absolutely perfect, but this isn't a Michelin-starred restaurant; it's a very good French restaurant where the chef comes to see his customers at the end of service. He seems delighted to chat with the regulars or simply exchange a friendly greeting with his seated guests. A genuine enthusiasm and good cheer that shines through in the delicious food.
A truly excellent place.
We'll definitely be back.

Large dining room, convivial round tables, and a terrace for sunny days. The dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients. Set menu at €41, €37 for a main course and dessert. A bit pricey; a less expensive weekday menu would be appreciated.
