Hi Guys,
Makila Golf Club is just some 15 to 20 Minutes away from Biarritz and a good choice for a formidable round of Golf.
For not much french speaking people reservation over the phone was easy in the usual french/english mixture. Driving range, bif putting green available.
Together with my formidable round compagnons Christine and Phillippe I played from the yellow tees (5.6 km) and got some helpful tipps, especially as some of the fast greens contain a significant slope.
If you start from the whites (6.1), which I would recommend from hcp 12 on, they say it is the longest course around.
Partly distances between the wholes are a little longer and the course goes up and down. Therefore you see quite a number of carts.
The course is a classic parkland course built in the 1990s in an old oak tree forest. It appears much older.
As time was short I cannot report on the restaurant which is said to be excellent. So try yourself ;-)
Overall a wonderful round. I would surely come back again.
Hilly course, designed by architect Rocky Roquemore, in the heart of a magnificent oak grove. The fairways as well as the greens are wide. Very pleasant part in a beautiful green setting. We did not try the 180° restaurant which has a very good reputation. We will come back
