MB sur Capbreton

When a restaurant has stood the test of time for so long, it's for a reason. From its beginnings on the pedestrian street to the present day, the welcome has always been just as warm, the local produce is of the highest quality, showcased by refined cuisine and delightful flavor combinations. The place is intimate, the terrace with its plane tree is incredible. A cozy little haven at the entrance to the port. If there could only be one, it would be MB.

I expected more from this restaurant, as there aren't many in Capbreton. The terrace was very pleasant, and the service was excellent. However, we were a little disappointed with the food. The starter was rather ordinary and lacked any real flavor. As for the main course, the veal rump was of average quality and overcooked. A shame.

For those of you who read my reviews, you may have noticed that I very rarely give a 5-star rating. But for MB restaurant, I do so without hesitation and with pleasure. As for the setting, the interior patio with its incredible plane tree offers a unique ambiance. The wrought-iron tables and earthenware tiles are beautifully crafted. There's plenty of space between each table, allowing you to fully enjoy your time with friends without being disturbed by neighboring conversations. From a service perspective, the welcome is handled with professionalism and warmth by the owner, who is absolutely top-notch. Attentive and caring, she oversees everything, taking orders and serving the food and wine. Everything is very efficient and done with a smile and genuine kindness. Arrival times are staggered to ensure the best possible welcome. As for the menu, the presentation is as impressive as the food itself. Delicate, flavorful, fresh, and expertly prepared, the meal delights the palate from the very first amuse-bouche. The wine list is well-curated and offers excellent pairings at reasonable prices. My friends and I had a wonderful time, which isn't always the case, given how much the quality of restaurants has declined in France since Covid. It's a discreet spot, away from the hustle and bustle of the port, and well worth discovering if you haven't already. (This was certainly the case for my friends, who have been coming to Capbreton for their holidays for the past 10 years). If I'm ever back in the area, I'll definitely return. P.S.: Sincere greetings to the chef (Marc, I believe), who single-handedly runs his magnificent kitchen and with whom I had the pleasure of chatting for a few minutes.

What can I say… I was truly pleasantly surprised to finally find a real restaurant in Capbreton! This one is run by a lovely couple. They offer beautiful local produce; you couldn't find anything closer. The owner is a very good cook himself, offering modern cuisine and dishes you wouldn't be able to make at home. It's a real treat; you can tell he cooks with passion. The portions are just right, the cooking is perfect, and the flavor combinations are very interesting. His wife provides friendly, pleasant, and impeccable service. Well done to them!! We wish them all the best and will gladly return.
