Night Beach sur Bordeaux

A good time in this unusual place. There is a bit of mystery around the place. This is well seen. The welcome is warm but then...big problem with reasonable footsteps on the ground. And this slamming door... too bad

When you go to a rooftop it’s for the view. At the Intercontinental, if you are not at the hotel you will be placed next to the bar with no view. Too bad. Okay there's a good DJ. The cocktails are not bad but considering the price and the lack of view for non-residents, move on. The Mama Shelter rooftop is much cheaper and nicer

A place with a lot of potential but not in winter. This “ephemeral” bubble is a prefab which has several disadvantages. The insulation is weak and easily lets cool air pass through. Despite the 3 ceiling heaters, on a cool evening it can be difficult to have a good time. The rounded plastic around it acts as a resonance box, being alone at the end, we could hear the people on the other side as if they were speaking into our ears. The prefabricated side means that as soon as someone walks, everything shakes and resonates. The dishes were good but were not incredible, especially since the cold cuts were not of very good quality. I would rather recommend L’Orangerie on the ground floor which offers impeccable service with cocktails to die for.

In this winter season, the rooftop offers a cozy and warm bubble where you can enjoy a good glass of wine because it is a wine bar, eat an antipasto plate, all warm, while enjoying lovely unobstructed views of Bordeaux. The service and welcome are there. What more could you ask for to have a good time?

We thought we would try it on the off chance as the sun was setting and it was our last day. The view was ok but the sunset was blocked by an equipment room. The drinks were expensive, 11 euros for small bottle of lager. We saw some food come out but again it looked expensive for what it was, so we finished our 1 drink went somewhere else. The staff were polite and friendly, made us feel welcome, the music playing was great, the overall atmosphere was nice, we were just disappointed the sunset view was blocked. I think people staying at the hotel have an exclusive area to sit on the rooftop, not blocked by same equipment room. Hotel looks stunning inside, Glad we popped in.

Well this is worth a visit it's not quite what you might expect at the top of the best hotel and Bordeaux. Part of the view is blocked by an adjoining building and it is difficult to see much from the rest of the patio. But, it is a nice experience. By the way, there is no particular dress code. So, pop up for a drink, which will be expensive, enjoy the view that you can have and then move on.
