O Maloya Cho sur Bordeaux

Our first visit as a couple to discover Réunion cuisine, and we weren't disappointed. The dishes were homemade and excellent. Our second visit with the whole family was also a great success—it was a real treat! Come and support this restaurant, which deserves much more recognition and is clearly run with passion. We came for dinner as a group of four and we really enjoyed the food. The massalé was excellent, we highly recommend it. The samosas were great too. We'll be back.

Honestly, as someone from Réunion, I'm rarely this impressed by a restaurant in mainland France… but this was a real revelation! The flavors were incredibly true to those back home: perfectly seasoned, delicious dishes, and above all, that authentic taste that instantly transports you to Réunion. The sausage rougail and the side dishes were expertly prepared. You can tell it's made with respect and love for Réunion cuisine. A true little piece of the island in Bordeaux—it warms the heart (and the stomach). I highly recommend it!

We chose this Réunion Island restaurant in Bordeaux to celebrate my 31st birthday, drawn in by the many positive reviews highlighting the quality of the food and service. Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere was very peculiar: no music, an almost empty dining room (we were the only large table, with just one other customer who left quickly), and a rather cold, unfriendly welcome. This created a somewhat oppressive atmosphere, as if we were being asked to cut our visit short or "manage" it rather than enjoy a festive occasion. We had made a reservation for several people, but a few guests had to cancel at the last minute for personal reasons (illness, pregnancy, etc.). This seemed to greatly upset the restaurant owner, creating a palpable tension throughout the meal. Most surprisingly, a typical Réunion Island dish couldn't be served to one of the guests, using these absences as an excuse. In a restaurant, one expects the à la carte dishes to be available regardless of the exact number of people at the table. We came to enjoy a pleasant time and celebrate a birthday, but instead, we felt a sense of pressure during the meal, exacerbated by the lack of atmosphere and the nervousness of the service. It's a shame, because the place had potential, but the overall experience didn't live up to our expectations.

"Ô Maloya cho" - a complete change of scenery for an evening at my friend Hugues's: chicken massale, bouchon, chili candies and cassava cake, all washed down with tamarind juice while listening to Sega music... Top! 🏝☀️🏝☀️

A truly unique place! This establishment has been open for 18 years, and for good reason. The owner is exceptionally kind, the welcome is warm, and the food is delicious. Special mention for the chili pepper, absolutely divine! Thank you for a wonderful experience. This is clearly a restaurant that deserves to be much better known.
