Restaurant Cesar sur Bonnieux

We had a wonderful time in this intimate restaurant, a meal that smelled deliciously of fresh produce, thank you again for the warm welcome and see you very soon!

Excellent food...simple, efficient, the lamb was divine...and the wine was very good too! We received a very warm welcome despite our late arrival.

Bonnieux and the Mistral's Embrace It was May 2025, and we were traveling through the Luberon region of Provence, France, specifically to Bonnieux, a small Provençal town perched on a scenic hilltop. The wind was strong, yet the view was breathtaking—especially the fields of poppy flowers and the cypress trees bent by the gale. We were searching for a local restaurant to sample authentic Provençal food and stumbled upon César, a small hotel-restaurant run by Stéphanie and Pierre-Yves. We were kindly welcomed and seated at a window table with a magnificent view of the Provençal landscape. Pierre-Yves informed us this strong, window-shaking wind was the famous Mistral, instantly making us feel the spirit of Peter Mayle's A Year in Provence. What followed was mesmerizing: three courses of Michelin-worthy dishes that dazzled in presentation and delighted our taste buds. Stéphanie, the talented chef, was very nice when we met her afterward, and we thanked her for the superb meal. We strongly recommend César for anyone wanting to experience true high-end Provençal cuisine at a reasonable price. Getting the Mistral is an added, unforgettable bonus.
