Eleonore and the hotel Edward 1st are an absolute gem of Le Perigord Noir! One of the best, if not the absolute best, dining experiences we've ever had (and, we've dined at some of the best places in the world). In every regard, Eleonore is the most fantastic - superb cuisine, service that I would characterize as perfect, and most welcoming hospitality. The owners, Isabelle and Michel were so kind and they made us feel truly at home. You absolutely MUST go to Restaurant Eleonore in the charming medieval bastide town of Monpazier, it is a highlight that we are still talking about over a year later :) We cannot wait to plan our next trip back!

A fantastic chic boutique hotel in the center of the Périgord, close to the center of Monpazier - the most beautiful bastide village in France. We were warmly welcomed with friendly service. The breakfast and dinner are astonishingly delicious - you can burn off excess calories in the pool or during a bike ride in the neighborhood. Highly recommended for people looking for quality peace and relaxation in a wonderful setting.

Gourmet restaurant at affordable prices, with many titles such as Gault&Millau. Pleasant waiters, very neat and romantic setting.

This was our second visit to Restaurant Eléonore, this time we opted for the dégustation menu. I shall preface this by stating we both work in hospitality and my partner is a chef and therefore perhaps we are more critical than most. From a food perspective there were highs and lows, the amuse bouche, and risotto were outstanding, we were slightly perplexed as to whether the scallop dish was meant to be warm or cold as mine was cold and my partners was luke-warm, the palate cleanser was supposed to be lemon and vanille however I couldn’t detect any citrus at all while my partner suspected citron essence had been used. The lamb was disappointing, overcooked and under seasoned, serving meat on such hot plates affects the tenderness and continues cooking it. The dessert was a bland parfait in an over-sweet liquid, unfortunately the most disappointing part of the meal came at the end therefore it has remained in our memory the most. The service was excellent with friendly, bilingual waiters who were attentive without being over bearing. The setting while pleasant needs some attention to seating as almost all guests had to be given cushions to sit on as the chairs are far too hard! The music could also be reviewed, I’d prefer not to listen to ‘beauty and the beast’ whilst I eat my dinner though perhaps I’m in the minority. We had a pleasant evening but left underwhelmed, the four stars are for the service, the quality of the produce and the dishes that were enjoyable.
