La Chaumine sur Steenbecque

We discovered this restaurant through videos on Facebook, and that alone made us want to go! So we took the plunge and, honestly… we'll be back! 😍 We ordered the "Menu Plaisir" (Pleasure Menu), which had a huge selection. It wasn't just one or two starters, main courses, or desserts: we had access to almost everything on the menu, drinks included! 🤩 The atmosphere was fantastic, the service friendly, and it was a wonderful discovery. We had a great time! We'll definitely be back!

We came all the way from the Lille area just for this restaurant we'd seen on social media. And let me tell you, the experience lived up to its reputation! A true Northern French bistro: warm, old-fashioned decor, very friendly staff, and the owner even came to chat with the tables. You really feel welcome! And the food? Exceptional! The ingredients were clearly very fresh, and the recipes were perfectly executed. I had the Welsh rarebit, and even after it cooled down a bit, it didn't become rubbery. You can tell that every ingredient is carefully chosen (the ham was also top quality). We sat under a marquee outside, so we were able to enjoy our meal without being bothered by the wind or the blazing sun. The price was also exceptional, especially considering the quality. We opted for the "Pleasure" menu at €37, which included a starter, main course, dessert, and three drinks (an aperitif, cocktails included, white wine with the starter, and a drink with the main course), all of which were truly customizable (not limited to two courses). The service was never rushed; we didn't feel pressured to leave quickly. We were able to savor each course with a little break in between, which was also very pleasant! You can tell that this establishment prioritizes enjoyment, conviviality, and a passion for our local region. We would definitely drive back for another hour to return, the experience was so enjoyable. Thank you for this wonderful time!

We had a wonderful meal. It was delicious and plentiful. My friend, like in the movie Ratatouille, was quite moved by the vol-au-vent, which reminded her of her grandmother's. The owner gave us a fantastic welcome, and the young woman was very funny and lovely. Excellent value for money. We'll definitely be back because we want to try everything; the menu is so tempting. Bonus: dogs are welcome and pampered. Thank you for a lovely time! 🫶

We loved the restaurant and entrusted Didier with catering our wedding. Our guests were delighted; everything was delicious, and the team was incredibly kind and professional. We were able to simply enjoy our wedding... thank you all three for everything! :)

It was our first time in this restaurant, a 1.5 hour wait to be served the starter, the dishes were decent but not amazing...it was a great experience that we will not repeat.

La Chaumine is, in our opinion, the best Flemish tavern we've ever been to! We had a wonderful time and absolutely loved the food… so much so that we were stuffed! 😄 The food is entirely homemade, using local and regional products. The menu is so tempting that you want to try everything. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the owner is very friendly, and the servers are incredibly kind and always attentive to their customers' well-being. If you're looking for a truly authentic Flemish tavern, go for it without hesitation! What's more, the prices are quite reasonable considering the quality of the food and service. We highly recommend it!
