It was my first time in Rouen France and I was with my group tour. We walked in without a reservation at 9:30pm and we were 9 people and they accommodated us. The food was amazing and everything tasted delicious! The only low point I would say was the slow service. It was an hour before we got water and our first appetizers. Other than that everything was top tier. Our server was amazing and helped everyone out in deciding what they wanted. This was the top tier of French cuisine fine dining.

Auberge, the oldest hotel in France I made a reservation, but since it was a weekday, there were empty seats. Since I was alone, I got the lunch set. The price is reasonable and a great deal at €29. The cold soup of melon, watermelon, and prosciutto is exquisite. The main dish, the sautéed fish, had crispy skin, delicious sauce, and was very filling. The dessert plate is also an impressive mille-feuille 🤩 I really wanted to try it, so I went there the next day and had an orange soufflé. It's fluffy and melty and you'll be satisfied even if you wait 30 minutes. I would like to visit again just to eat this. The customer service is also great. The small ancient city of Rouen, which can be reached in an hour and a half from Paris, is also a very nice city, so be sure to visit it.

Have always wanted to try to experience dining at this oldest inn in France, we didn’t have a reservation and just walked in on a Saturday night thinking we would be turned away, but the hostess has gracefully welcomed us and brought us to our table. Servers were very friendly and attentive. I and my husband have ordered the gourmet option which was a 5 meal course. The amuse buche served was a plate of small super salty biscuit bites. Starter, which was lobster in tortilla was just acidic, we both felt lobster was very much undercooked, no interesting flavor nor texture. Next was the main course, i ordered the mosaic of veal and turbot fish for hubby. The plates weren’t bad but not good either. Nothing special. The food served looked good though to be fair. I know that the establishment was since 1300s and we felt like the food in terms of flavor, texture and innovation just kinda got stuck there, 1300s. The wine we ordered though was really good but kinda pricey. We just a felt a bit disappointed spending almost 270€ for a dinner we very much looked forward to. Food was okay, not great.

Very very beautiful table! The Crown is an institution and its reputation is not usurped. It was really very good, fine, and tasty. The service is impeccable, very friendly, attentive, taking the time to discuss local gastronomy (mainly on the regional cheese platter). Having lunch on the terrace, we did not take advantage of the interior decoration. That said, the accumulation of photos of celebrities who have frequented the establishment brings a slightly old-fashioned but nice charm. The prices charged are certainly a little high but it is entirely consistent with the content and quality of the dishes. The only downside is the waiting time between dishes which is a little long. Arriving at 12:30 p.m., we left at 3 p.m. On vacation where we like to take the time to savor, this is not a big problem... In the end we had a very pleasant time. It is very likely that we will come back for lunch at La Couronne if we return to Rouen.

Food, atmosphere, and service were amazing. The food is really good, and the set menus are amazing value, and you get to try many dishes and ingredients. It is an experience, and dinner takes time, but you get to enjoy the food and the place. Make sure to order the Calvados at the end for a bit of show (and a really good Calvados).

Three fellow river cruise passengers were there to have their 'saveurs impressionistes' price fix menu options. They loved the Dover Sole and the soufflés. They recommended the 'oldest inn' in France...approaching 700 years. Apparently, Julia Child was there as well in the 50s as you can see a tableau with her message to the auberge/staff. There are several cafe tables outside and two levels inside. We went the next night and sat inside; however, we ordered from the Harmonie Gourmande prix fixe which is about 15 euros more but we were quite pleased. The pate, turbot and risotta were wonderful with our lovely bottle of wine. They have so many cheeses on their after-dinner cheese display. And their Grand marnier soufflés were delicioius. All courses were elegantly displayed; we ate every morsel. The service was fine. So why a 4 instead of a 5? Two reasons: the restaurant was quite busy; some courses were slower or more rushed than others. Also, the sweetbreads were a little thick with a garlic butter sauce.

This place has operated as a restaurant since the 14th century under many names. It is the original building, obviously updated. Now serving in multiple rooms, it competes for Michelin & other high level ratings, including Trip Advisor. Known for being the inspiration of Julia Child. So this is a very different taste of Classic (hence some mediocre reviews from those expecting something else). This is an experience, so dive in… Everything is old and a bit tattered, not the crisp freshly printed menus, but a few years old menus that have been updated by hand. The menu has their classics from Julia’s era, but the lunch tasting menu (three course, € 29 is an outstanding value). We all did that with their house Chablis (€13 verre, €70 bouteille), recommended. Also, we recommend either appetizer, get the fish over the beef, and the meringue for dessert. Try to speak a little French, and explore the vast signed photos that show the history of the world over the past century. Some wonderful photos of French movie stars and famous others. They will give you their stories. And when back home, you can tell others of your visit here…
