Restaurant La Couronne sur Rouen

The food on the set menu was decent, but the à la carte dishes looked superior.

We had a wonderful evening enjoying the Rouen-style duck, expertly prepared by our very friendly duck chef, Thomas. Completely delighted, we returned the following day for lunch. The setting is lovely, the service professional and kind, the dishes excellent, and the soufflé delicious. Everything is done to enchant you. A truly exceptional experience.

Made reservations on a river cruise based on Julia Child's review of the restaurant some 70 years ago. More than met my expectations. My biggest concern when booking the restaurant was that it had slipped into tourist trap. All of the potential was there. Market square in a quaint downtown setting? Check. Famous personages pictures on the wall? Check. Julie Child?!? Check. And yet while a tourist attraction for fans of Ms. Child, it most assuredly was not a tourist trap. They serve honest French provincial food in a warm setting with gracious service at a reasonable price. You can look around the room at the clientele if you want to check. The hostess (who apparently has been working there since she was a child) ran the dining room efficiently and effectively. The staff was attentive, even to bumbling Americans, and the food was superb.

Very beautiful atmosphere and interior in the restaurant, with personal and friendly service. Sometimes it was a bit slow. The food was delicious and there is a wide selection of wines. The cheese selection is excellent and served on a large tray. At the end of the evening, the fireplace made the room too warm, so it was a bit uncomfortable to sit and enjoy. Otherwise, a great place and I recommend it!

A wonderful evening at this beautiful inn. Everything was perfect, the dinner was superb with the famous Rouen duck. I highly recommend it.

So if you're looking for a place where you're warmly welcomed by the owner, served by experienced staff, in a beautiful setting, and where the food is absolutely delicious, this is the place to go. That day, a family from the other side of the world was sitting next to us, sampling almost every dish; they were in heaven. We opted for the "Gourmet Harmony" menu, and everything was delectable. The cheese platter was exceptional in its variety, the apple desserts transported you to a land of bliss, and the lobster and prawn arancini were simply divine. I'll stop there. But I'll be back very soon for their famous sole.

We opted for the must-try specialty, "duck in blood sauce," and we were not disappointed! More than just a dish, it's also a true spectacle and a wonderful experience, despite the long wait.

Incredible experience. Everything was beautiful and delicious, from the appetizer to the dessert. The service was impeccable, with a touch of humor that made us feel very comfortable.

The setting is magnificent and the dishes are rich and varied, but expensive. The service is cold and impersonal.
