02/04/2024: A must-see restaurant in Malbuisson.
With my daughter we went to this iconic establishment in this village on the shores of St Point lake.
The large room with bay windows overlook the lake and our table was right in front of one of them.
We chose the €65 menu, greed be damned! and then the statement of what awaited us really inspired us.
Local anise aperitif for me (Un Pontarlier anis) and a non-alcoholic cocktail for my companion (she was driving!) which she enjoyed with a small plate of gougères.
To whet our appetite, a glass of cauliflower cream was offered to us.
Then, we enjoyed a nice slice of pan-fried foie gras with some ripe apple “fritelles” and slices of raisin and hazelnut bread. "Very very good".
As a second starter, scallops and shrimps with a saffron sauce, a few pea seeds and small cubes of carrots to add color to the plate. For my part, I would have preferred 30 seconds less cooking, my companion found them perfect. so again “Very very good”.
Small break with a scoop of apricot ice cream dipped in typically regional Macvin.
For the main course, a "half duck fillet", peas, carrots and a small flan of "orange squash" I think. Unanimously again a "Very very good" even if there too for me a little less cooking... .
A beautiful platter of local cheeses, young and old Comté, Morbier, Bleu de Gex, Tomme, goat's cheese log and one last kind whose name I don't know. we were able to taste them all.
The dessert was the huge dessert cart that the waiters and waitresses had great difficulty moving between the well-spaced tables. I succumbed to a portion of St-Honoré and another of lemon tart. My companion opted for “Paris-Brest”, chocolate lemon cake and, like me, St-Honoré. house pastry chef M Chauvin. "Very very good".
I had two glasses of Poulsard, Arbois wine, served chilled which went well with my meal.
Excellent service, what more can I say? Perhaps give the people who provide the service more information on the origin of the cheeses, I will never know which fruit farm the county comes from... .
In the end, a “Very very good” meal. Keep going.
(I visited this establishment for the first time in 1977 and come back each time with pleasure.)
12/02/2024: We discovered this restaurant for my birthday.
The cuisine is refined and the service quality.
Beautiful view of Lake Saint-Point. Enough for a pleasant digestive walk after the meal.
A great experience to repeat with pleasure.
