Gourmet restaurant, superb setting and interior decor, good food. Very good.

Excellent food, unfortunately, much less warm service. We had lunch at Windhof this Friday, a party of five, and as far as the food was concerned, there was very little to criticize: the dishes were delicious, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. We genuinely enjoyed the cuisine, and it deserves to be highlighted. However, the welcome and service left us with a much more mixed impression. Few smiles, little interaction, no real effort to make the guests feel comfortable, and a very professional but rather rushed service. Nothing inherently wrong, but a coldness quite unusual in a restaurant of this caliber, which unfortunately contrasts sharply with the quality of the food. Towards the end of the meal, the atmosphere thankfully relaxed, and the service became a little more pleasant. Perhaps the waitress simply became more at ease as the meal progressed. Another point to note: if the entire table doesn't choose the set menu, everyone must then order à la carte. This rule is clearly stated on the restaurant's website and upon entering, so there were no unpleasant surprises in this regard, but it remains rather unusual and, for me, difficult to understand. Two of us ordered a main course and dessert, one ordered just a main course. The remaining two recreated the entire menu from the à la carte menu, which cost them about twelve euros more than the set menu, around €62 instead of €49. What justifies this €23 or €24 surcharge? Was it the portion sizes, the efficiency of the service...? In the end, a very enjoyable dining experience, but the welcome could have been warmer. It's a shame, because with more friendly and attentive service, our opinion would have been quite different. I don't wish to recommend this restaurant at the moment; perhaps I'll try another place.

After a few days in Colmar, we drove back home to Belgium, but to break up the drive and satisfy our hunger, we looked for a restaurant for a nice lunch. And what a wonderful surprise this was! The restaurant itself is on the classic side, but at the same time, it feels very French and warm. The welcome was warm yet professional. But then came the food, and this chef really knows how to cook! The local produce was deliciously fresh, full of flavor, beautifully presented, and perfectly cooked. And then the bill arrived, and we walked out with huge smiles on our faces… We are going to remember this spot because it is literally right next to the highway! Highly recommended!

I wasn't familiar with this restaurant, but having recently traveled to the area, someone recommended it. I must say that my family and I were delighted with this establishment. Everything is homemade and fresh (bread, ice cream, etc.). In short, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The woman who served us was very professional and welcoming, to say the least. If you're ever in the area, don't hesitate to stop by; you absolutely won't be disappointed, and believe me, we're discerning food lovers.

Hello, On our way to Strasbourg for a Rhine River cruise to the Swiss Alps, we took the A4 motorway and exited at junction 42, Sarre-Union. We then took the D1061 and drove about 1 km before finding the charming Windhof restaurant in Burbach on our right. We received a warm welcome. My wife ordered an exceptionally fresh and perfectly prepared hake fillet, beautifully presented, as per the menu. At our host's suggestion, I had a Caesar salad and panna cotta for dessert. Everything was perfect. The setting was superb. At the end of our meal, we chatted with the family who run the restaurant. Thank you to them for this wonderful experience. Marie-France & Alain.

During a family meal, we enjoyed the set menu offered by the restaurant. The service was impeccable, discreet, and efficient. A big thank you to the kitchen staff! The use of fresh, homemade ingredients truly enhanced the dishes served. The value for money is excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant.
