Saigon City Restaurant Since 1987 sur Saint-Girons

I know this establishment very well and I've enjoyed it until the day the beef satay I was served was truly off-flavored; it smelled incredibly strong, but they served it to me anyway. After I pointed this out to the owner, who immediately reprimanded his sister in the kitchen, he returned looking embarrassed and apologizing. The problem is, he shouldn't have served me that dish. Since then, I only go there as a last resort. Apart from that incident, the food served is good! I've recently started going back, and tonight (March 3, 2022) I wasn't disappointed. I think the kitchen has made some adjustments, and as a result, I'm going back regularly. Today, January 14, 2023, we went to this establishment, and frankly, we didn't regret it. We had a wonderful meal: I had my Vietnamese salad and beef satay, and my wife had her pho with coconut pearls. The atmosphere was good, it was busy, and there were lots of takeout orders. In short, I'll be back. PLEASE NOTE: The restaurant will be closed for the entire month of February 2023 and will not reopen until March 1st, 2023. Today, February 14th, 2026, this restaurant is permanently closed due to retirement. An Indian restaurant is expected to replace it. Opening date unknown.

Always a very warm welcome at Saigon City. The food is excellent, the service is top-notch, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend it.

The portion was not generous enough with the set menu. They don't take allergies into account, even when we specify them (I mentioned a mint allergy, and my salad arrived with a sprig of mint leaves on it). They made a mistake with my order: chicken instead of shrimp. The dish I returned had shrimp, but there were still some bits of chicken left over. And it's cold! The dining room isn't heated enough. On the plus side, the service was quick.

To begin with, the restaurant doesn't accept credit cards, which can be quite inconvenient. The setting is clean and welcoming, except for the mismatched and overly childish placemats. The dishes I ordered were served very quickly, and the presentation was impeccable. A big plus for the particularly delicious house cocktail. A downside was the ketchup served with the fried ravioli, and the Peking duck I ordered wasn't really what I expected. It was more of a duck in sauce, not really lacquered, but still tasty. The stir-fried noodles were simple but effective. The service was quick, friendly, and impeccable. I plan to return to try the other dishes on the menu.

Classic Vietnamese restaurant with a large and varied menu. Special mention goes to the welcome and the ice cream with exotic fruits for dessert.
