I ordered the claypot rice with preserved meat, and the beef chow fun next door smelled really good too!

The bao buns are great, and the lunch special is good too.

We clearly haven't found the true flavors of Hong Kong.

The food and drinks were authentic and well-presented. The service was quick. I recommend it.

Came here to give HK food a try in Paris and while it didn't quite hit the mark, it was generally acceptable compared to other Chinese/HK food I've had in other European cities such as Amsterdam which was awful. The beef fried noodle was average, flavour was fine although the flat noodle used is much wider than is typical. The mapo tofu wasn't spicey at all despite being labeled as such (and I have very low tolerance), and it's strange seeing it as a vegetarian option as mapo regularly has meat (minced pork) in it and it was missing the pickled cabbage. The flavour was almost there minus the kick but no meat or pickled cabbage was too much missing ingredients. The classic fried rice was also pretty close in taste, it was most of the way there but they added a liquidly sauce to it which made it a very wet fried rice and it completely ruined the texture. Fried rice should be a bit moist and soft, not wet! There are fried rice dishes with sauce such as Hokkien fried rice but the sauce is thickened with starch so it doesn't make the fried rice all wet and kind of mushy. If they had left the sauce out it would've been a perfectly good fried rice dish. The black bean rib claypot rice was actually very good, although the black bean sauce was a bit weak but the meat was very good and the rice was a bit crunchy at the bottom of the claypot. This one mostly nailed it. We also had the milk tea with the teddy bear ice, we've seen these a lot in Toronto so it's nothing new but the milk tea was good if not a bit too sweet once the frozen teddy bear had melted enough. In terms of value, it's generally well priced compared to other restaurants in Paris, the beef fried noodle and fried rice portions were a bit on the small side but the rice bowls and claypot rice gave good amounts of food for the money so those would be good value picks. Overall, it hit some marks but still missed plenty of others. It's alright if you really need a Chinese/HK food fix in Paris, but it's still way behind whats available in Toronto.

My first visit to Bolo Bolo left a great impression. The Hong Kong-style cuisine was authentic, and many dishes had the feel of a traditional Hong Kong-style tea restaurant. The ingredients were fresh, the quality was consistent, the environment was clean and comfortable, and the service was very warm. Whether you want a proper meal or a gathering with friends, this is a great choice, and I will definitely come again.
