Let's be honest, the hotel is dated, but the rooms are extremely clean, and the shower is brand new with a multi-directional jet of water that's a real treat. The lighting in the room is so bright you feel like they're trying to X-ray you. There's probably a button somewhere that fixes that (problem). Then there's the restaurant, in a word, fantastic. The dishes (both local and international) were absolutely top-notch. Both in terms of taste and presentation, they were a real treat. The house wine was delicious, and the espresso was typically French; they simply can't do that. If you stop at any gas station in Spain or Portugal, you'll just get a liquid bonbon. In France, you just can't do that. Breakfast? Totally my thing, simple, but if the croissant is top-notch, I'm happy. No cheese, no cold cuts, and no eggs—just the way the French experience it. Two very charming ladies, both in the restaurant and at breakfast, and you're off on your way with a wonderful feeling. I wandered around the area a bit after dinner and saw that they were the only restaurant that was packed, which speaks volumes, I think. One more thing about Aligot: I remember them pulling cheese strings up to the ceiling, while I think this one has been adapted a bit for tourists. Will I be back? If I'm ever in the area, definitely.
