We had a lovely time at the tavern.
The menus are varied and very good.
The servers are very pleasant, courteous, and even have a great sense of humor when the opportunity arises.
I recommend this restaurant.

Disappointing food, despite pleasant service
We tried La Taverne in Saint-Étienne with high expectations, and left somewhat disappointed. The service was the pleasant surprise of the evening: the staff was smiling, attentive, and cheerful—no complaints there.
Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. The dishes were quite ordinary, lacking flavor and originality. It fell far short of the level one would expect from a restaurant. The ingredients seemed poorly prepared, and the overall presentation lacked generosity and care.

The starter was nice and tasty, the hamburger was good, however I was disappointed with the fish dish, the vegetables were poorly washed, there was sand and the rice was the kind you find in canteens, which is a shame.

The setting is nice.
The appetizers are good.
The brewer's sauerkraut is served in a generous portion.
My husband had the burger, but the fries weren't crispy enough.
Our friend ordered the butcher's cut. It wasn't cooked properly. A shame.
As for dessert: the Nutella crepe was a complete disappointment. You have to add the Nutella yourself 😱
Mixed opinions from us.
