Too many people, too much noise, and the waiter forgot to give us the bottle of water we'd ordered. Oh well.

Great experience, fast service and very good food

Having come here regularly for lunch with friends or as a couple, and generally satisfied—hence my loyalty—I was disappointed today, not by the food itself, but solely by the waiter. He was barely polite, slow, and took 20 minutes to clear the table after we'd finished. He didn't say a word, didn't smile, and to top it all off, he took another 10 minutes to practically throw us the menus for dessert. There was no "Did everything go well? Would you like dessert, coffee? Anything else?"—that was the owner's job. It's a shame about those 30 wasted minutes, as there wasn't enough time for dessert. I would have loved to try the beautiful strawberry pavlova. I really like this restaurant, and I'll come back, but I don't want to be served by this waiter again.

A very warm welcome, and a very good meal, a delicious seafood sauerkraut with a very good homemade dessert.

This is our second time at the Taverne... we're always warmly welcomed, the food is beautiful and delicious, and the service is very pleasant with friendly waiters and waitresses! I highly recommend it and we'll be back.

Metz isn't exactly overflowing with good restaurants, especially not on holidays. The Alsatian Tavern on Rue des Clercs may not look like much, but it feeds a man, with excessively generous portions, every day of the year. In short, it's good, and the atmosphere is excellent thanks to the friendly waiters.
