Tsukizi sur Paris

We had high expectations for Tsukizi but unfortunately the experience fell short. When we arrived on time for our reservation, we were told the table wasn’t ready and were asked to go have a drink at a nearby bar. Once there, we actually had to call the restaurant ourselves to check whether the table was ready, which felt a bit disorganized for a restaurant of this level. During the meal, one person in our group ordered a different menu than the rest of us and her dish was served well before ours. She had already finished eating before the rest of the table even received their food. In a restaurant positioned as high-end, it’s generally expected that everyone at the table is served at roughly the same time. As for the sushi itself, the rice was disappointing. It was too cold and too compact, which took away from the balance and texture that good sushi should have. The service itself was polite and the waitress was knowledgeable, which we appreciated, but unfortunately that didn’t fully make up for the issues with timing and food quality. Overall, the experience didn’t meet the expectations we had for a restaurant of this reputation.

A good first experience at Tsukizi. To start, the miso soup was truly excellent! The sushi was good and the portions generous; the amount of fish was very generous, which was much appreciated, especially considering the price. There was also a wide selection of platters and various pieces (sushi, maki, cones), allowing you to sample many different flavors. I even discovered that I like unagi, a very pleasant surprise. However, I was a little surprised by the wasabi already present in the sushi: I would have appreciated being informed beforehand or being asked my preference, as I am quite sensitive to it. The restaurant is small, but this contributes to an authentic atmosphere reminiscent of traditional Japanese eateries. The waitress seemed a bit distant, and the wait for the bill was rather long. Despite these minor points, the overall experience was positive thanks to the quality of the food.

A romantic lunch at this fantastic restaurant. The staff is incredibly attentive and offers excellent recommendations. The food is simply divine! Fresh and delicious ingredients! I can't wait to go back.
