No idea what the food or atmosphere were like, because our party of three was refused at 18:30 due to the fact that one of us was going to leave early so wouldn’t be ordering food. It looks like a nice place, too bad, will try again at another time or when everyone can eat!

Very nice room, friendly and very professional staff, beautiful brasserie menu, generous portions. Have a nice evening. Maybe not choose the Saint Jacques at this time!

Published on Instagram (ericpaname) On the left bank, just between the Odéon and Mabillon metro stations stands the Vagenende brewery. Former Bouillon Chartier founded in 1904, taken over by Rougeot, then, around twenty years later, by the Vagenende family, it was almost razed in 1966 to make way for a supermarket. We can never thank André Malraux enough for having requested and obtained its classification as a historic monument. Upon entry, I am greeted by the head waiter and the breathtaking Art Nouveau decor of this institution which has remained in its original state for a good century. A traditional kir brightened up with a homemade tapenade will be enough to put me in an excellent mood. The choice should not be made lightly among a good fifteen à la carte starters. I order the only one I haven't tried yet: the crab and avocado millefeuille with basil. The expected puff pastry seems to have been swapped for thin sheets of brik and the crab meat finely mixed with avocado suffers from a lack of seasoning but the whole remains good and tasty. A weekly shop today offers a calf's head with gribiche sauce, beautifully made steamed potatoes, very Chiracian, but I'm literally going to fall for the vol-au-vent of sweetbreads, poultry and morels. Excellent choice: this vol-au-vent is the best I have eaten! The dough is not soggy with the filling as we see all too often but on the contrary crispy and present without excess. The pieces of sweetbreads and morels are imposing and creamily enveloped in a supreme sauce to die for. The Mercuryy 2021, from the estate of Château Philippe le Hardi, is the ideal accompaniment to this royal feast which will conclude with three colossal profiteroles topped with a warm chocolate sauce. I will leave feeling happy from this invigorating and comforting meal. Allow around a hundred euros for the total.

05/04/2024: A very pleasant setting where the smell of grilled meat awakens your senses. Beautiful area.
05/04/2024: A rustic place where you share tables. Superbly grilled steaks, great cote de boeuf for two and excellent duck breast. Good foie gras and snails as starters, but do not forget the perfectly aged cheese!
