06/07/2026: Not usually one to leave reviews, I felt compelled to share my experience at La Tulipe last Sunday! To give you some context, I've had the opportunity to dine at this establishment several times, both before and after the renovations, and I've noticed (unfortunately) that the quality of this restaurant has been declining, while the prices have increased. To summarize this experience, here's what prompted me to leave a review: After ordering, I noticed that the aperitifs were served at the same time as the appetizers. WTF? What could have been an exception wasn't, as our neighbors in the next room experienced the exact same thing. Our plates were then sent back to the kitchen (as were those of our neighbors) so we could enjoy our respective drinks! Unless a new trend has emerged in the restaurant industry regarding this, I find it rather presumptuous to bring out the appetizers at the same time as the aperitif. We ordered one (not two) thin slice of toasted foie gras as a starter for €12.90. Therefore, after politely thanking the waiter for this thoughtful touch, the plates were sent back to the kitchen to be returned at the end of the aperitif. Sure enough, when the plates came back, the toasts were, of course, cold, since they had been toasted a good 10 minutes earlier. The plates were sent back to the kitchen a second time before we finally received fresh toasts at the right temperature, hallelujah! 🙏 If, however, you enjoy ingesting plastic wrap, the foie gras seems to be the perfect accompaniment, as both plates contained it (see photo). At least we know that the foie gras isn't wrapped in a cloth but rather in plastic cellophane. The positive points, let's be objective about the quality of the food: The dishes were well-prepared, as were the desserts, and the portions were decent 🙏 When it came time to pay after two hours at La Tulipe, yes, yes, yes! (don't have an urgent appointment, though), the waiter thought it appropriate to ask me if the food was "edible." It was, yes, except for the plastic wrap offered with the foie gras, if he had no objection, of course! Clearly, this young man doesn't appreciate some customers pointing out the shortcomings of an establishment that claims to be a benchmark in Villers-Cotterêts for dining. The problem seems to stem mainly from the number of people working there on a Sunday lunchtime; let's hope it was an exception on the occasion of my visit. One observation: Only two waiters in total to manage the bar, the dining room and terrace, and the cash register. Admittedly, they were certainly energetic, but the restaurant's standards seem to have gone haywire, perhaps already on vacation, who knows! Unless, of course, the problem is simply my legendary high standards, which compel me to write this rant to express my overall dissatisfaction! A word to the wise, a disappointed customer...

19/07/2026: No complaints whatsoever. The owner is very helpful and has a great sense of humor. The food is impeccable. The sirloin steak with pepper sauce was delicious.

26/07/2026: A warm welcome in a beautifully decorated setting! We dined on the outdoor terrace under a magnificent large tree. The quality of the food was perfect, fresh and full of flavor. The bill was also very reasonable, around 40 euros including a starter, dessert, and drinks.
