20/05/2026: We came hoping to enjoy a good meal of quality cuisine and were quite prepared to pay the price for a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, we were all very disappointed. The ribeye steak was completely underseasoned, and the two duck breasts we ordered rare were anything but when they arrived. When the waiter finally noticed our dissatisfaction, we pointed out that the side dishes were still missing. They were only brought to us after we had finished eating. The pasta was bland, the risotto very small, and overall the dishes seemed very basic for the price. In the end, we all wished we had simply ordered burgers. The service was also disappointing. We were a table of seven, and the two women at the table didn't even have time to respond when asked if they wanted coffee: the waiter had already left. We also felt judged because of our age, as if young customers couldn't appreciate good food or be willing to spend money on a truly quality meal. The manager's attitude reinforced this impression, especially when she asked if we wanted to take the pasta home "since we probably had to work early the next day." This remark struck us as inappropriate and condescending. In the end, none of the seven of us felt the experience was worth the price. We won't be returning.
13/05/2026: Everything was in keeping with the setting, at least that day. We were pleasantly surprised by the decor when we entered. It was the last positive point of our lunch. A young, pleasant, smiling waitress seated us, and a young man, equally kind, brought us the menu. The waitress took our order: set menus, glasses of wine, gourmet coffees, and a standard carafe of water. The bread basket arrived, followed by the main courses, then the glasses of wine. No carafe. We asked again, and a third waiter, without a smile, pedantic or pretentious to a fault, brought it to us. The portions were small. The beef was only moderately tender, and the fries were meager. Once we had finished our main courses, we waited for dessert. A fourth waiter with curly hair came to ask us what we wanted. "We ordered desserts right from the start." "Very well, I'll check." 20 minutes later, still nothing! We went to the counter to complain and finally get the rest of our meal. We were surprised that we were there off-season, the restaurant was very empty that day at lunchtime, and the service was lacking. We're worried about the high season! If there even is a high season in Angoulême. To be fair to the staff, this establishment seems to be selective about its clientele. From the moment you arrive until you're seated at your table, management only seems to care about regular customers. It's a shame, the decor led us to expect a lovely experience.
