Chez Paul sur Angouleme

We wanted to eat at Chez Paul, which was a bit confusing because the place is now called Louvel! But once you're inside, you're rewarded – great food and reasonable prices.

Was really nice here the big apéro boards really are worth it make sure to get one , The fish was a bit small for me o should of went with the steaks says 300g on the menu but looked way bigger

I loved this evening; the scallop risotto was excellent with the accompanying white wine. The service was top-notch, very professional and friendly. I highly recommend it 🙃

We went there because we like independent restaurants and were excited to receive an advertisement for a new one in Angoulême. In fact, we were disappointed to discover that it's simply a slight change of concept by the same owners. The head chef has apparently been the same since 2020. We had been there before and had eaten well, but noticed that the place (apart from the decor) is a bit outdated. The prices are high, and we were served rather slowly. I politely pointed out to the restaurant during our last visit that my beef, ordered rare, was served overcooked. On this latest visit, it was the same thing. That's why this time I'm giving a public review with only 3 stars: acceptable. We felt a slight sense of deception in this advertisement for a new restaurant because, ultimately, it's the same as before; even the menus still bear the restaurant's old name. We probably won't be coming back.

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant! The dishes were delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. A special thank you to Tony, our server, for his warm welcome, professionalism, and good humor throughout the meal. He was attentive without being intrusive, which truly made our experience even more enjoyable. We will gladly return and highly recommend this establishment!

Death to "Chez Paul," long live "Le Louvel"! Fantastic first brazier experience!! DJ, all-you-can-eat menu (charcuterie board, then braised prawns, duck breast and beef, vegetables or new potatoes, fruit salad or crème brûlée). Christophe and Delphine are innovating and reinventing themselves... A lively atmosphere (reservations required), attentive waiters and waitresses, a DJ who brings energy, and the owners always present and genuinely care about their customers. Respect. See you soon. A must-visit! From the welcome and service to the food, from the aperitif to the dessert, it was a true delight! The atmosphere is incredibly friendly, the decor is cozy, I highly recommend this superb restaurant, Le Louvel! What a pleasure to eat so well! Thank you for this excellent evening, it was a real pleasure!
