Maison Vacher Clermont
Chamalieres
13/01/2026: Charges for eating in! Over €2, double the original price. Legal, but excessive for a simple clearing of the table. The traditional baguette lacked crumb, was undercooked, and too light. The staff said nothing when dogs came in with their owners. It's always the same old people, old folks who think it's perfectly normal to bring their dogs. €9.50 for a small galette for two!
The ban on pets in bakeries and pastry shops
Legal

"They are our faithful companions, and yet, they are not welcome everywhere. For obvious hygiene reasons, pets are not allowed inside food stores. Can a baker tolerate customers' pets entering their shop? The answer to this question is simple and clear: no, you must not allow your customers to bring their pets into your establishment when they come to you.
" Hygiene Issues
Establishments handling food must comply with strict hygiene standards (EC Regulation No. 852/2004).
This prohibition is not intended to be unpleasant for these customers, but rather to uphold basic hygiene principles. Indeed, pets can carry germs (or microbes) that could settle on food and subsequently contaminate consumers.
This prohibition, which is not new, is also enshrined in law. For example, paragraph 9 of Article 125-1 of the departmental health regulations concerning food stores specifies that "animals, particularly dogs, are prohibited from entering the premises, with the exception of guide dogs for visually impaired persons. This prohibition must be posted at the entrance of each store."
