Manto

Lyon-6E, Lyon
14/02/2026: Fantastic place! We came for Valentine's Day (without a reservation), were seated at the bar, and it was great! There was quite a wait, but the atmosphere and the sweet potato fries with tamarind and yogurt cream made it worthwhile! The manto was really good, and the mushroom supreme and focaccia were delicious! Thank you! 😊
01/02/2026: Very authentic Asian flavours but with a fun French twist in presentation and some cooking techniques. Glad we came here for lunch! And the home made chili oil was really as well good! Fulfilled my Asian soul and tummy for the week :)

08/02/2026: I strongly advise against Chinese people going there. They have absolutely no sense of manners. We waited for over an hour without a single dish arriving, while many tables that arrived after us had already received their food. We questioned the waiter about why our food hadn't arrived yet. The "young" waiter initially spoke confidently and calmly, saying, "We serve food in the order of order." Then I asked why another table of five people, who arrived later than us, had already eaten. We had already accepted that several smaller tables that arrived after us had finished their appetizers, only mentioning that a five-person table had been served. After that, the "young" waiter fell silent, and her expression became less confident. I added that I wasn't blaming her at all, but she looked embarrassed and aggrieved. I immediately emphasized several times that I was only addressing a kitchen issue, but she still cried and was taken away by another waiter, who said she was just a child… We later learned that the young waitress was only 13 years old! Shortly after, several dishes were served, and the chef, before all the dishes were even served, came over to apologize for the slow service, asking us not to blame her daughter. We were shocked! What had we done wrong?! Putting aside the fact that she used her daughter as a shield and that she was a child laborer, we also had a three-year-old child who waited a full hour to eat! Is this the attitude she expects? Finally, the chef brought out the last dish of hand-torn cabbage and, with her 13-year-old daughter, came to us and apologized again, then said to her daughter in a very harsh tone, "Apologize!" The chef's attitude was the epitome of rudeness. We were almost speechless... Finally, she emphasized that each dish was prepared one table at a time, according to the order, but even though the French people behind us arrived later than us, our dishes still took at least 20 minutes to arrive. I understand that you are slow in serving the food, but it is simply absurd to serve the food out of order and then think that we made her daughter cry! If you are not able to handle a large number of customers, you can inform them when they order, instead of using an arrogant and rude attitude to justify yourself.
07/02/2026: This was the worst restaurant I've ever been to in my six years living in France. Because we're fellow countrymen, I initially thought you'd show us some basic respect. Or perhaps, because we're fellow countrymen, you assumed we'd be more tolerant, thus allowing your blatant neglect of us? Why were the tables with French guests served first, and even those who arrived after us? Is it because you think we're saints, or is it your inherent sycophancy and self-deprecation? An even more dramatic scene unfolded: when we asked the waiter when our food would arrive, this "exceptionally capable" waiter, who initially calmly explained with a smile, "It's crowded on Saturdays, the kitchen is overwhelmed," suddenly burst into tears after we commented that "the kitchen's coordination is poor; it's been almost an hour since they've served an appetizer or three eggplant fritters." My God, this acting skills surpass those of countless actors in the Chinese entertainment industry. Did we reprimand your waiter? Did we utter a single swear word? Did we raise our voices? The climax was yet to come. The waitress's mother—who was also the head chef—was arguably the most unreasonable person in the entire restaurant. About five minutes after her delicate, Lin Daiyu-like daughter was taken away by a colleague, this mother suddenly appeared before us, offering her "apologies." Her reason? We had scolded her 13-year-old daughter until she cried, and she was sobbing uncontrollably at the service counter, so she had to personally express her fierce apology. Then, this fierce woman, holding her pampered daughter's hand in her left hand and carrying our last dish of hand-torn cabbage in her right, returned to our table to express her equally fierce "owe." My goodness, this is utterly ridiculous. What have we done to deserve this spectacle you presented on the weekend? So entertaining! I truly believe your talents are buried in the restaurant industry; the film industry might be a better fit for you. Sigh, this is outrageous beyond belief, utterly outrageous. If you have any brains, please first look at what time we ordered and what time our first dish was served. If you have even a little empathy, imagine this: you go out to eat on the weekend, spend over a hundred euros, and receive this kind of service—would you be happy? Ah, unfortunately, you don't.

23/01/2026: A lovely and attentive waitress, delicious food, and a very nice decor – we loved it! Thank you and see you soon!
16/11/2025: My parents were already going there before we were even born. I've been going regularly for 32 years, and whenever I'm in Lyon, I always make a point of going back. Everything is delicious (crab and asparagus soup, yum!), the welcome is warm, you feel right at home, and time flies by. I can't wait to go back—it's a sure thing!
