Restaurant Le Provence
La Palud-Sur-Verdon
12/12/2025: Beautiful, fun, clean, and a really friendly and professional team!!! It was a welcome change. Finally, a cool, unpretentious little hotel that ticks all the boxes for the price!
08/10/2025: Comfy room and staff were super helpful. Great food at the restaurant and delicious breakfast.

Le Tilleul
La Palud-Sur-Verdon
28/09/2025: The only good thing was cider.
Crepes with no taste, dessert a disaster, salad somehow OK. Slow service, only one lady was cooking and serving guests.
17/09/2025: I don't understand the 4.3 rating.
Inedible crepe.
Very kind, but retire and take care of yourself.

Hotel & Spa des Gorges du Verdon Restaurant
La Palud-Sur-Verdon
27/01/2026: My friends and I had a perfect weekend at the Hôtel et Spa des Gorges du Verdon. The location is simply ideal, with a panoramic view of the Verdon valley and mountains—a true feast for the eyes from morning till night.
It's the perfect place for a girls' weekend: our plan included hiking and canoeing in the Verdon River, followed by relaxation at the hotel pool and spa. We were lucky enough to have massages from highly skilled therapists and discover Cinq Mondes products—a truly pampering experience.
In the evening, we dined at the hotel restaurant: appetizer, main course, dessert… everything was exquisite. You can really taste the passion behind the cuisine, and we enjoyed every bite. A little tip: don't leave without trying the cocktails—they're excellent!
Finally, a huge thumbs up for the staff, who are charming, attentive, and very responsive. Everything was perfect for a fantastic stay. We left with our heads full of memories and only one desire: to come back very soon! 💛
07/12/2025: The reception was initially businesslike and friendly, the bare minimum; we didn't feel welcome at all – then things turned frosty. We wanted to share a set menu for dinner, but the receptionist was adamant. Sharing a menu between two people is not permitted. The same applied to breakfast. So we skipped both meals. We were traveling by motorcycle and didn't fancy riding to another restaurant in 40°C heat. Besides, we had checked in early and already enjoyed drinks costing €20 each (without any snacks!). Riding was out of the question. I find it absolutely unacceptable that guests who can't eat that much are denied the option of sharing a menu. We spent the night hungry in a 4-star hotel. Just let that sink in! Brochures emphasize that the owning family is very keen to conserve resources. Therefore, you have to pay for a bathrobe if you want one. Otherwise, you wrap yourself in a bath towel, as in any normal hotel, and walk through the lobby to the pool. A typical 4-star hotel. I mean, we paid almost €300 for one night!!! Saving resources, OK, but what about food waste? This just doesn't add up.
We were shown to our room, which was nice. But we had to carry our own things. The receptionist didn't even offer to take a light piece of luggage for us.
Later, we got some snacks from the vending machine because we were so hungry (even when we're really hungry, we can't eat more than about a third of a main course!). The packet of M&Ms was already partially open!
The room was very nice, despite the cheap water glasses. There was only one free power outlet by the bed, and the desk was so small that the laptop barely fit. The chair was much too low to work comfortably on the laptop. Design takes precedence over usability in this room. Instead of bedside tables, there were niches, but these were occupied by a kettle and other items – including the power outlets, of course. The TV was unplugged from the unit itself.
From room 31, you can see broken roof tiles. That should be checked. The sealing strip at the bottom of the shower door is missing, and the consequences are obvious. Furthermore, you can't switch to the rain shower, and there's no holder for the shower head. You have to hold it in your hand while showering. The decor was nice. There was a large floor lamp with three sockets for light bulbs. Unfortunately, the bulbs were missing!
The pool was covered by the glass roof except for a small opening. As I mentioned, it was 40°C (104°F), and had been for days beforehand. Therefore, the air was stuffy, and the water was far too warm; it wasn't refreshing at all. There's no poolside service. You have to dry yourself off, wrap yourself in your towel, and walk through the lobby and past reception to the bar, where you first have to find an employee. Then you can order, and the drinks are actually brought to the pool. As I said, a single drink cost 20 euros.
The hotel has a nice, slightly sloping parking lot with some gravel, which can be a challenge for motorcyclists. And it was incredibly quiet, truly relaxing. The terrace of room 31 was very nice, although some screws on the railing weren't fully tightened (risk of injury), and the slats on the backrests of two chairs were loose or missing entirely.
We'll definitely never come back!
PS: For motorcyclists who want to do the loop: Be sure to go clockwise, as it's a one-way street going the other way. You can see this on Google Maps.

Auberge des Cretes
La Palud-Sur-Verdon
12/09/2024: To avoid
Mediocre and expensive
01/09/2024: Miserable! I am not sure why this lady wants to work in a client facing role, when she clearly doesn't like people.
We visited as a friendly group of mixed European cyclists for coffee. Wow! What an awful reception. She made a mistake on our order but when we asked for a replacement she was not happy! Super rude.
