Sous le Chêne
Corconne
11/09/2025: Homemade cuisine, with fresh products. I recommend it!!!
04/09/2025: We're already in Corcone, and the restaurant isn't signposted. If you're coming from Montpellier, head towards the village at the roundabout, and then it's immediately on the left, up a small hill opposite the trash cans.
The restaurant is nestled in a lush green setting. The stone fountain is home to biodiversity; lots of little birds come to see you, and butterflies even land on you. A little green corner of paradise.
The menu (on a blackboard) is relatively simple, with three starters, three main courses, and desserts.
Which is great because at least you know everything is fresh.
There were four of us, and we were shocked by the quantity served! For the starter, a single lettuce leaf, a cherry tomato cut in half, and a tiny pepper stuffed with brandade. Unfortunately, the brandade didn't last long with mine... It can happen, but oh well...
The veal dish in sauce, and then the drama: two small pieces of meat the size of sugar cubes!! I would have been ashamed to serve that in my restaurant! Truly shocked. Two pieces of meat stew-style, but it was very tasty and balanced, but you don't serve that kind of quantity without exposing yourself to criticism!
The mezze platter was beautifully served with magnificent pottery; it was divine, full of flavor.
A friend who was vegetarian asked for a side dish as a meal, and she was disgusted. You could have served it properly.
And the highlight of the show, the chocolate fondant cakes, which were nothing more than a child's chocolate cake. In the restaurant industry, we call this a melt-in-the-mouth meal!
In short, reconsider the quantities because it's impossible to serve this to customers. If you don't have or no longer have the ingredients to send out plates, say so instead of putting down two tiny pieces of meat and a lettuce leaf for a €34 menu.
We won't be coming back to see that again! €140 later for 3 and a side dish, we stopped at a good bakery to buy some quiches to continue our meal.

My response to your reply.
I didn't take photos of my dishes because unfortunately they're not Instagrammable, and I don't photograph all my sad meals.
Indeed, my mini chili pepper was underfilled.
I wrote: "It can happen, but oh well," and therefore I wasn't going to ask for anything.
I see from reading your reply that my opinion deeply touches you. Sorry for coming on a weekday, I don't understand your strange response to this topic!
You must have taken us for young tourists who only think about "eating" large quantities, certainly given the times you repeated the quantities we thought we wanted... I only pointed out the quantity we received, but the quality, I said, was definitely there, so this isn't a destructive review like we often read online, but rather constructive criticism. Then you judge our vegetarian friend!
Once again, what a strange response.
Well, I'll leave you to your loyal customers who weren't fighting either the day we came. Good future service, reconsider your quantities because if you do pay €1.50 for an organic salad, at the menu price, don't hesitate to add more or watch Kitchen Nightmares for new presentation ideas 😇 than just one leaf placed there, flat, on a dessert plate!
I won't go over your condescension about looking for a village bar where we would certainly be more in our image (???), but indeed, the London one, for example, a few kilometers from your place, we are much better served...
Sincerely,
Regarding the reservation, don't say any more nonsense, I called you 3 days before!
