09/11/2025: We received a very warm welcome at the Auberge du Tannenheim in Niderviller on Sunday, November 9th. The service was impeccable, but the price-quality ratio did not justify the quality of the food. The Angus beef was a real disappointment: served with a pepper sauce reminiscent of an industrial product, it completely masked the taste of the meat. The meat itself was thin, lacking tenderness, and resembled shoe leather more than a proper cut of beef. It was probably the worst meat I have ever eaten in a restaurant, an experience I strongly advise against. The same was true for the duck breast, which could have been delicious with crispy skin, simple seasoning, and a few spices. Unfortunately, the same overpowering pepper sauce ruined the dish once again. The side dishes were equally disappointing: a small spoonful of tasteless mashed carrot and potato, two pieces of plain cauliflower, and fries that were clearly frozen. Overall, the food lacked any real passion or care. You get the feeling the chef no longer enjoys it, or is nearing retirement. This meal, which was supposed to be a wonderful discovery, will remain an experience I absolutely do not recommend. Of all the restaurants we tried, this was the most disappointing in terms of taste. Let's hope the other dishes are better, but for my part, I won't be going back. It's a shame, because the service was perfect.
