Le Restaurant de L'Hotel L'Europe

16/02/2024: The good points: the staff were polite and the hotel was generally clean
The bad points: The hotel was mid-renovation which was not made clear at booking. Only after I had paid (non-refundable) I got an email saying they restaurant and leisure facilities were closed. When I arrived there was bare concrete on the floor and confusing signage to the rooms (the signs were on the floor and not pointing the right way for the room numbers!)
Apart from that, the whole hotel was very hot. I had to open my window in the room but the cleaner always closed it so it was hot again when I got back. It was uncomfortable for sleeping and the air-con was both ineffiecient and VERY noisy. The room was very noisy - not that you could hear guests but there was near constant gurgling and plumbing noises from various other rooms. It woke me in the night several times. There was no voile at the window so if you wanted natural light there was no privacy. The room was very dark. There was a desk lamp and a wall lamp, no main light so I struggled to work in there. Overall I was not impressed and would not book again.

The dishes are ordinary at best, a calf's liver... which has only been started.

05/04/2024: This is the best Ibis we have stayed in. Nice to see that they don’t have the bunk beds like other ibis. There is a restaurant that looks really nice downstairs too. Parking is free. Beds are really comfy. I have seen reviews saying rooms are small but I don’t know if we got a different room to these reviewers as I thought it was roomy. Four of us stayed here with a dog. I have attached a picture of where the beds are to show how spread out it is! A double to the left, a single to the right and I am sat on a single next to the wall across the other beds. Location isn’t the best for walking as it’s about an hour walk into the centre but we know a free car park which is an 8 minute walk away from town.

05/03/2024: The products are quite expensive but of quality, we cannot deny that but then the reception, I came across a saleswoman several times who was not pleasant at all, no smile, nothing... and so I give it 3/5. Too bad the quality is there but kindness is not much to give and yet very complicated. More smiling in Sundhoffen than in Horbourg.

22/02/2024: Having recently settled in the area, I let myself be tempted by a catered daily special.
Excellent value for money, well served and above all tasty.
In addition, the welcome is extremely warm (and personalized from my second visit :))
A pleasure to discover an artisan butcher/charcutier/caterer so close to home

26/03/2024: Hygiene....When you pay in cash, and ask to have bread sliced, it would be normal for the saleswoman to wear gloves! It's not very hygienic to touch bread after handling money!
13/03/2024: Whatever one can say about the standardized or industrialized side of the products, it's good and not expensive, the croissants are made with real butter unlike certain small bakeries which use much less noble materials.

04/04/2024: It’s a McDonald’s! No particular surprise... just deserves a little more cleanliness but hey, I doubt that the staff are the only ones responsible... people are more and more disrespectful in public places... it's distressing.. .
26/03/2024: Extremely long service despite low attendance. Error in order, a vanilla milkshake instead of strawberry, it's true that vanilla and strawberry are two words and colors that look terribly similar... The sandwiches are getting smaller and smaller and poorly assembled. Nice 280 Cantal, poorly rolled wrap, it's always more expensive for sometimes smaller products
