23/05/2024: We were there 18 months ago and really enjoyed the time, despite divergent opinions from those around us. A moment of surprise for our palate, and this is what ordinary people are looking for when going to a gastronomic restaurant of this level. For this second visit, we did not have any taste surprises or WoW either for the appetizers or for the 4 plates tasted subsequently, the effect of which was rather flat. It was obviously good and very qualitative, cooked with high quality and seasonal products, but I did not have the impression of being in a Michelin-starred restaurant - but in a gastro restaurant, as you can find in neighboring villages, the dishes ultimately being quite classic and lacking that certain pep that one might expect and which was present during the menu tasted several months ago. for our experience, the price of the menu was therefore far too high - Dessert was undoubtedly the best dish, a good combination of sweet, sour, bitter, and a whole play of texture. But the white plate used for dessert had several dressing marks/traces for the 2 of us - and at this price, we were surprised at the level. We were also somewhat surprised by the rather academic service - even if the staff was very friendly. It wasn't at the expected level for a star either. Regarding the table decoration, it surprised me that small candles were present but not lit... on any of the tables.

20/05/2024: Sierentz is not very spectacular. The proximity to Basel and the sights of Alsace is attractive. The highlight in Sierentz is the Auberge Saint Laurent. A classic Alsatian hotel, nice atmosphere, comfortable, beautiful outdoor area with swimming pool and terrace, incredibly good cuisine and service that you can hardly find anymore. Thanks!!
