Agastache Restaurant, France sur Lyon

A very ordinary looking restaurant from the outside and also on the inside. Set menu with 2 choices for each course, all looking rather interesting. Chose the beetroot for starter. Taste was pretty good to start with but the proportions of ingredients were far too weighted towards the beetroot and it became a bit sickly half way through and I had to leave the other half. Chose the beef and peas for mains. Yes, it was beef (cooked very nicely it has to be said) but the cut wasn't very good, far too many gissley bits in. It came with a pea pie and on a bed of peas. I understand this is a Michel restaurant and I understand top chefs have to try new things to be edgey but the flavours just did not work together and I didn't enjoy it. I was so disappointed with the main that I don't even remember what I had for dessert. Price was relatively low for a Michel restaurant but that doesn't really count for anything if you don't enjoy it.

Excellent high-quality dining experience! Obviously very popular with the locals. Defininately deserves strong consideration for a Michelin star. Excellent food quality, excellent creativity, excellent blend of tastes, excellent plating, and presentation. Very kind and friendly, attentive service.
