Au Bistrot de la Halle sur Souillac

We went - without a reservation but with fingers crossed - to Au bistrot de la halle for our last night on holiday. We have had some really good meals so the bar was set quite high. We looked online at about 40 restaurants in a 30min drive radius and settled on this one. The outside has a sweet little terrace and the inside looks a bit like an office (with interesting art and square ceiling tiles) however we only noticed it as we were some of the first to arrive. Once the place filled, which it did quickly, there was a nice atmosphere. The menu had something for everyone. We had burrata, entrecote steak, truffle pasta, the kids had chicken and we all had way too much dessert! The food was excellent. Our fussy children tried everything, and liked it all. It is such a brilliant restaurant and the food despite sounding simple has clever flavours and pairings. Could you find something more picturesque? Probably. Would it have food as good as la halle? I very much doubt it. Such a gem of a restaurant, we wish we were on holiday for longer so we could come back!

A last minute evening meal... They welcomed us with pleasure and the meal was very good. Good little address in Souillac with fresh produce in a friendly setting. Thank you and we look forward to coming back home.

Accueil et service agréable, le cadre est sympathique sous la halle, à l’ombre. La cuisine est simple , goûteuse et de qualité, avec des produits frais. Enfin des frites maison!!! Une carte où tout le monde peut y trouver son compte. Bon rapport /qualité/ prix 5/5 dans cette catégorie de restaurants.

Enjoyed a delicious meal on a pleasant square. The food came quickly despite the crowds. The waiter was not having his day 😄

This evening we ate a treat from aperitif to dessert. Very warm welcome. Very well eaten. Dough and truffles to eat

The dishes we ate were very good... My friend particularly appreciated the shells with truffles and ham... Too bad the person serving had a serious zygomatic problem :(

In a very pretty setting under Les Halles de la ville, authentic cuisine, a small menu with seasonal products. 6 of us had a blast! As we had not reserved, the restaurateur called us back as soon as a table of six became available while we were having an aperitif in a nearby bar. We had foie gras, a Rocamadour salad, trout tartare, duck breast and Cheeseburgers for the teenagers. Desserts: crème brûlée, chocolate mousse, pana cotta and a bottle of rosé => A delight! Reservations recommended 😉 Suggestion: small candles on the tables, would be welcome 🕯️

As a family in SOUILLAC and its region...we tested the places! Well, like everyone else, we look at the prices….we say to ourselves…well, let’s try anyway! RESULT: Simply STUNNING! Product qualities, taste, and everything that goes with it….. THINGS THAT GET LOST IN TOURIST PLACES. And yet we are very critical: I ADVICE YOU!👍👍👍👍👍👍 You are looking for frozen, reheated….map your route, go eat at the MCDO! Tip: book 5⭐️ DEDICATION TO THE SERVERS…. Discreet, caring and of course in the kitchen

Disappointed with the service and meal. Surly, scruffy waiter and total lack of attention to detail. No freshly ground pepper in a restaurant of this class - really! Husband served very soggy frites with his steak. Truffle shells bland and lacking any taste of Comte. Desserts were good. but the whole experience let down by lack of service. They really need to try harder to please the customer.
