Au Fil de l' Eau sur Clecy

Four stars is very good according to Mr. Google... which is why I didn't give it five ("exceptional" according to Mr. Google). So, it's very good: the value for money is justified by the setting and the food. The open-air café has become a restaurant, including in its pricing.

A lovely, friendly restaurant on the banks of the Orne River in Clécy. We came for a stroll with little hope of finding anything open, and to our pleasant surprise, this restaurant intrigued us more than the others. We weren't disappointed at all! The dishes were generous, well-presented, and delicious. The owner and the servers were very welcoming. The setting was pleasant and still quiet at this time of year. A truly pleasant surprise! We will gladly return. The two bikers from Bayeux send a small private message to the owner, if she remembers us.

We had an excellent lunch. Impeccable service, generous and delicious portions.

The meal was good quality despite a slightly slow service that required prompting. However, a negative point was the presence of shirtless customers at several tables without any intervention from the managers. I find this questionable from a hygiene standpoint.

Friendly welcome, pleasant and attentive staff. Beautiful place with an outdoor terrace overlooking the Orne river.

We had a wonderful evening at the Au Fil de l'Eau restaurant with our entire team last night. The cocktail-style dinner was perfect: quality products, a friendly atmosphere, and a very warm welcome. We also had the pleasure of enjoying a short time on the pedal boat, kindly offered by the manager. This thoughtful touch made the evening even more memorable! A big thank you for your hospitality, your kindness, and this lovely shared experience. We will definitely be back!

The ambiance on the terrace right by the river is lovely. The service is also polite and friendly. However, the quality of the food leaves much to be desired. The food was served five minutes after ordering – a clear indication that it wasn't freshly prepared. This was evident both visually and in the taste of the chicken breast fillet. It was bone dry and probably quickly reheated in the microwave. The pork knuckle – which tasted good in principle – was also likely reheated. The crackling wasn't crispy at all, but rather limp. The fries were also a bit limp. The fact that fries were the only side dish offered is also somewhat disappointing. Regarding the service: The restaurant clearly has too many tables. The poor service staff is completely overwhelmed when the restaurant is only half full. When paying at the bar, I was put off for 15 minutes by a nice but stressed woman with a "I'll be right there" (in French). Overall: The restaurant gives the impression of prioritizing quantity and price over quality in its profit margins. If the food were better and there was less stress in the restaurant, it would be perfect - and in my opinion, a higher price would then be justified, and I would gladly pay it for better quality.
