The bread quality is acceptable depending on the type chosen; the rice and buckwheat flour bread has a firm crumb and keeps well. However, the wholemeal bread is mediocre, lacking substance, with a very light crumb, doesn't keep, and hardens quickly. The Basque cake is decent, but greasy and lacking cream and flavor, unlike other brands such as Maison A.1 or Par.

The Nutella Croissants are delicious ❤️

The best Basque cake in my opinion, a real delight. I discovered Le Fournil de la Licorne in 2025. And I just ordered two for my daughter's birthday, her favorite cake, delivered by Chronofresh, impeccable.

Stop here!! What a great little bakery! Nice people, it's definitely busy, but the line moves pretty quickly. The baguettes are fantastic (I liked the tradition a touch more for its delicious crust, my spouse liked the regular for its cottony interior), the fruit and nut bread was hearty, the quiche and tortilla are rich and delicious, and the gateau basque is buttery. We liked the cherry gateau basque slightly better than the custard (and the larger size over the individuals because the crust is a bit thicker and not quite as dry/crumbly as the individual ones). We also tried the chausson au pomme and the kouign amann. They were less our favorites (the apple was applesauce rather than chunks) and the texture of the kouign amann was more like a palmier to us (crispy sweet puff pastry layers as opposed to a more buttery soft laminated dough with a caramel praline bottom), but those are just our preferences and regardless, you can tell the high quality of every item, whether it's a favorite or not. So come here and try everything and find out what your favorite items are!

Honestly, I've tasted many Basque cakes, but theirs...it blows them all away! The sandwiches are delicious, and the pastries are appetizing and original.

During my first trip (my first solo vacation) 20 years ago, I stopped at this bakery. Since then, every year when I come to the Basque Country, a visit to Le Fournil de la Licorne is a must. Taste-wise, your Basque cake perfectly meets my expectations (Pariés and Maison Adam are also good alternatives where I live). In short, go without hesitation; this bakery is a true culinary treasure (bread, pastries, snacks, etc.).

Very good service despite the crowds. There's a lack of variety in the sandwiches, but other options are available such as quiches, wraps, paninis, and salads.
