Au Gre de Mes Envies sur Dijon

A warm welcome and quality cuisine, the duck with prunes is a delight!

We came here on a Thursday evening while visiting Dijon. We had a reservation for 20h15 but it was not necessary as there were open tables while we dined. The staff greeted us warmly and sat us promptly. We chose to dine upstairs which required us to climb a slightly narrow staircase. Watch your step! After being seated, we selected an apéritif. Kir Royal with either litchi or ginger. Elderflower was unavailable sadly, but the litchi was a recommended substitute. I’d say the ginger is for the bold. It is a little too strong to begin a meal on a fresh palette. *Our menu was different than past reviewers which suggest they create new menus. Your options may be different than what is written here. Surprise Palette Warmer! While we waited for our entrées they kindly served us a tasting of sweet potato puree with sesame oil and pumpkin seeds. Delicious! We could have had that as our entré. Starting Course! Our entrées were seaweed-rice rolls topped with scallops. If you are a fan of sushi, this is perfect choice. Very good! The wasabi between the two was delightful. Main Attraction! For our main course, we had the fish of the day and duck plates. The fish was a muskellunge under soy-sesame sauce served with rice and steamed vegetables. A good pescatarian option if needed. The duck was quite an enjoyment. A slow cooked leg served with gravy, a steamed bun, and steamed vegetables. The meat was slightly dry so I suggest lathering the gravy between each bite. Sweet Aftertastes! And to close out our meals, we selected the coconut tapioca and passion fruit pudding and chocolate cake. The pudding was quite tasty. A healthy balance of creamy, fruity, and citrus-y. The chocolate was deliciously chocolate, of course, but the star of the plate was actually the sesame ice cream. What an experience! I would love to be able to find it again. 10 out of 10 would dine here again!

We had such a wonderful evening at Au gré de mes envies in Dijon! The host was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was beautifully and delicious. A truly memorable evening from start to finish. We would highly recommend this restaurant and would love to come back

We happened to pass by this small restaurant at lunchtime today and just glanced at the menu outside. Right from the start, our visit began to be exceptionally pleasant: The owner came out personally, greeted us incredibly warmly, and explained the small menu and the restaurant's concept in a very straightforward way. We spontaneously asked if there was a table available for the evening and made a reservation for 8 p.m. That evening, our expectations were more than exceeded. The restaurant is very small and intimate, and the dining room on the first floor is exceptionally cozy and decorated with great attention to detail. This small size is a big part of its charm: You don't feel like you're in just any anonymous restaurant, but rather welcome and personally attended to from the very first moment. We also really liked the menu. Instead of an endless selection, there were three appetizers, three main courses, and three desserts. A few dishes, clearly prepared with excellent ingredients, care, and skill – that's exactly how it should be. Everything we ate was outstanding: perfectly balanced in flavor, beautifully presented, and of truly high quality. We would especially like to highlight the service. It's rare to experience an evening where friendliness, attentiveness, and warmth feel so natural. Never intrusive, never rushed, but simply present, friendly, and professional. You can tell that the people who work here truly care about their restaurant and their guests. The wine selection also perfectly complements the concept. It's simply a pleasure to sit here, enjoy a good glass of wine, savor the food, and eventually realize that what started as a planned dinner has turned into a truly wonderful evening. And then there's the value for money: truly excellent for the quality of the cuisine, service, and atmosphere. For us, Au Gré de mes envies was one of those delightful discoveries you don't necessarily plan on a trip, and precisely because of that, one you remember fondly. Small, personal, welcoming, and with truly excellent cuisine. A definite recommendation. If we're ever in Dijon again, we would return without hesitation.
