Au Pied d'cheval sur Cancale

I'm not giving it 5 stars because perfection doesn't exist... but it was still a most enjoyable experience. Periwinkles, brown shrimp, langoustines, clams, and spider crab were all top-notch! The service was unpretentious, in true Cancale style, without being sloppy. Thank you.

Impeccable tasting and friendly service

We had a delicious meal and the service was very nice and helpful. We sat upstairs on a small balcony with a view of the harbor. Great!

There are undoubtedly better places to eat in Cancale, but very few, I think, have the atmosphere and authentic feel that one looks for in Brittany. Everything is just right. We're on a fishing boat, and the place offers a pleasant, unpretentious experience. Just a warm welcome and fresh ingredients. The food is generous in both quantity and flavor, with a touch of the kind of family meal we love. It was there that I ate my first oysters, and it was a very good first time. Go there. See for yourself. You won't waste your time or money; quite the opposite.

Had a tasty meal, service clearly less so

Friendly and competent staff. The setting overlooking the sea is absolutely delightful. Excellent value for money. Go without hesitation!

We had lunch together at this small seafood restaurant in Cancale. The service was adequate and the staff pleasant. My partner ordered mussels marinière. They were good, but really small for the price. At the end of the meal, when I mentioned this, I was told they were rope-grown mussels and that these were the only ones available before the season starts in July. This is understandable, but it might have been helpful to mention this when ordering to avoid disappointment. I opted for an omelet, which is listed on the menu without any sides or salad. When I ordered, the waiter had informed me of this and offered to add bacon and cheese for a small extra €0.80, which was a nice touch. The wines we ordered were good. Overall, it wasn't exceptional, but it's still a decent place for a simple lunch.

Oyster tasting, very good welcome and service.

A truly delightful experience: enjoying a plate of oysters and a cheese platter – a real treat for the taste buds. We had a lovely chat with the owner, who offered helpful tips for a more enjoyable tasting experience. Our attention was drawn to the smiling waiter as he shucked the oysters. Yes, the platter was prepared right before our eyes! An address I highly recommend.
