During our visit to the magnificent Château du Haut-Königsbourg, we stopped for lunch at Au Relais des Ménétriers in Ribeauvillé — and it turned out to be a fantastic experience. From the first bite to the last, every single dish was absolutely delicious: beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and served with genuine warmth.
The setting is charming, the service attentive, and the quality of the food truly memorable. We left the table already planning our next visit.

I absolutely loved this place, it’s even better under the new ownership! The food is delicious, with exciting new flavours and a great variety that really elevates the whole experience. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of creativity.

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Au Relais des Ménétriers in Ribeauvillé, Alsace, France.
This restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from the entrance of the old town of this beautiful village, making it very easy to reach while still feeling pleasantly calm. The tables are well spaced, allowing for comfortable conversations, and the service is friendly, smiling, and attentive throughout the meal.
We had the opportunity to try the Baeckeoffe au canard, a specialty made with duck, baked in a terrine-style mold and served with a generous selection of vegetables. The dish was both very flavorful and surprisingly light, with duck that was incredibly tender, clearly benefiting from the slow cooking in this cake-mold-shaped cocotte.
We also ordered the matelote of perch, wrapped in a very fine pastry and served with a delicious sauce. Both dishes are emblematic of Alsatian cuisine and were executed with great care and precision.
We finished with a chocolate moelleux for dessert, which was rich and satisfying. Considering the quality of the food, the setting, and the service, the prices are very reasonable.
All in all, a restaurant I can highly recommend to anyone visiting Ribeauvillé and looking for authentic, well-executed Alsatian dishes in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
