The waiter was extremely helpful and friendly. The dishes were typical Alsatian fare. I particularly recommend the excellent strudel dessert. Light and incredibly delicate! 🤩

A very good Alsatian winstub. The portions are generous and quite affordable despite the very central location. The tables are a bit close together; it's cozy but might be uncomfortable for some.

A lovely setting for dinner in Strasbourg. The sauerkraut is truly excellent, and the prices are reasonable for a traditional restaurant so close to the cathedral. The service was a little impersonal, but nothing to complain about. It's a good place to eat.

Au Vieux Strasbourg - An Alsatian Immersion Just the Way We Like It A warm, gourmet, and quintessentially Alsatian spot A festive atmosphere, traditional decor, and generous portions… it doesn't get more Alsatian than this. During a stay in Strasbourg, head to Au Vieux Strasbourg, a place that immediately immerses you in the local atmosphere, both inside and out. And during the holiday season, of course, it's even more charming. We expected it to be crowded… but in the end, we were pleasantly surprised: the atmosphere was lively but not overwhelming. Perfect for truly enjoying the moment. As for the food, there's no room for hesitation: 👉 sauerkraut is a must. We opted for the "Old Strasbourg" Grand Sauerkraut, with five side dishes for two people and a whole waedele (a type of sausage)... needless to say, we didn't leave hungry 😅 All accompanied by a Riesling from Gustave Lorentz, perfect with this type of dish. For our daughter, who isn't a fan of sauerkraut, we chose a revisited baeckeoffe with Munster cheese and country bacon – a very good alternative. Clearly, it was impossible to have a starter… we preferred to save some room for the main course (and even then…). But we couldn't resist a little dessert: vanilla/raspberry vacherin glacé (ice cream cake) Black Forest ice cream Simple, satisfying, and perfect for finishing. The service was pleasant, the welcome warm, and the atmosphere truly convivial. Beautiful decor inside and out – it was fantastic!

We came to eat as a family this evening. Despite our little girl being unwell, the staff were fantastic and incredibly understanding. A big thank you! The food was excellent, the service was great, and the decor was lovely and regional.

Traditional cuisine near the cathedral. The restaurant is quite small, the service is impeccable, however, the dish I was served was tasteless. While the sauerkraut I was served seemed homemade, it wasn't prepared that day. Homemade is good, but fresh ingredients would be even better for the taste. Not being a food expert, I could be wrong, but that's the impression I got from this bland dish. Make up your own mind.

So many pleasant surprises: A warm welcome and setting, Delicious and generous sauerkraut from old Strasbourg at a very reasonable price, The vacherin is delicious. In short, everything here is authentic.
