The price was reasonable for a tourist village. The food was decent, but nothing special. The pie was good, but my fish was overcooked. The beef bourguignon was good. I didn't like the pastry on the apple tart. Some of the staff are a bit odd, and there seem to be some communication issues between the chef and the waitresses. The wine was good and reasonably priced. The terrace is pleasant.

I ordered a beef bourguignon, which I consider a local dish supposedly made with local meat, so it was a no-brainer. The meat was dry, there was very little of it, and the sauce was tasteless. My biggest disappointment wasn't actually the dish itself, but discovering that several people at different times were making the same complaint, and that no one seemed to be learning from it. This beef bourguignon definitely needs to be re-evaluated.

The food was very satisfactory, even if the salt shaker fell into the zucchini at the end of service... However, the service was extremely slow, with a young waiter who was clearly not thrilled to be working there. Combined with the paid parking in Vézelay, this put us way too far behind schedule. Most importantly, the owner's conversation with a customer, during which he very openly expressed his political opinions (at the very least, "conservative"), ruined our meal. A restaurant should be a neutral space, free from this kind of expression. More discretion would be appreciated.

I hesitated to come after reading some of the reviews, but I think they're frankly a bit harsh compared to my experience. I arrived around noon to reserve a table for one, and there were no problems at all. I recommend doing the same as me: arriving before service starts or making a reservation, as the place fills up quickly. By 12:30 pm, the terrace was already almost full. I chose the €26 set menu (starter, main course, dessert), which I found very reasonable. The Époisses cheese tart with its small salad was lovely, the andouillette sausage came with a proper homemade gratin and cooked vegetables, with a simple but perfectly acceptable mustard sauce. For dessert, the homemade apple tart, served warm with a scoop of ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream, was the perfect ending to the meal. The waiter was sometimes a little overwhelmed, but that's easily explained by the high volume of customers. Despite this, he remained courteous and the service went smoothly: arriving around 12:20 pm, I had finished my meal (starter, main course, dessert, and coffee) by 1:30 pm. The setting of this old inn is magnificent and truly contributes to the charm of the place. My only minor complaints concern the temperature of some of the homemade dishes, particularly the pie and especially the gratin, which would benefit from being served a little warmer. I also felt that the passageway leading to the restrooms could be tidied up and cleared of clutter. Otherwise, I think we also need to be realistic: €26 for a set menu of starter, main course, and homemade dessert, in such a pleasant setting, is excellent value for money these days. In Belgium, this price often barely covers a single meal. In short, I had a very good time. It's not a gourmet restaurant, but it's an authentic place where you can eat well and enjoy home-style cooking (a rarity in such touristy areas). Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

The restaurant is clean, the service is adequate. The food is good and of high quality.

Lunch this Tuesday, July 29, 2026. Arriving just before the rush without a reservation, I was kindly seated. I received excellent service, despite the crowds filling the restaurant. However, I made the mistake of ordering one savory buckwheat galette and one sweet crêpe: I'm not in Brittany, and I was therefore quite disappointed by these bland treats. On the other hand, the price was very reasonable at €15. I might return to order a more local dish (vegetarian? That's complicated in this region!) or a simple fresh salad. The place is pleasant, and the service was very good considering the circumstances.

You don't immediately notice this restaurant when strolling through the pedestrian streets... But then a smell catches your eye... the aroma of Époisses cheese tart! Inside, you find yourself in a timeless world! A charming dining room and a terrace to enjoy the cool summer evenings. A simple yet incredibly effective menu. Quick service. Smiling and welcoming staff. Delicious dishes... you stop by chance and return for pleasure.

It's a shame because the inn is very pretty but very dirty: stained tablecloths, a water pitcher covered in grime, and don't even get me started on the toilets! The food is simple, the beef bourguignon is acceptable.
