Auberge du Col d'Aulac sur Le Vaulmier

A restaurant serving local and traditional cuisine. The menu is simple but the ingredients are excellent. The setting is exceptional, with views of the mountains and, of course, the valley. We tried the porcini mushroom omelet and the aligot: both were delicious. The mixed platter was also perfect. The service was a little slow but very friendly.

Ideally located tables in a magnificent setting, just 20 minutes from Puy Mary. There are a few tables on the terrace and indoor seating. We thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the ambiance.

What more can be said than the view...??? : the food, the friendliness, etc...

Splendid view and impeccable service

Honest and unpretentious local cuisine, a limited menu (vegetarians beware!) typical of the region! Good, well-prepared ingredients, served with friendliness and efficiency ✨ As a bonus, breathtaking views of the Mars Valley.

The welcome was perfect despite the late hour, 2:30 pm. The aligot was generous and mild (I prefer it salted to my liking). The tripe dish was quite good. No complaints.

Lunch on a terrace with a breathtaking view is a magical moment. The owner is incredibly kind, and the dishes are simple yet of high quality. I'll definitely be back...

The place is beautiful, though the service was a little slow because it was busy, and the staff were mostly older people who still had plenty of energy and enthusiasm. Come there to enjoy the view and take your time to unwind; if you're in a hurry, go to a fast-food restaurant. The welcome was lovely and warm, the food seemed homemade with love, and some of the drinks were locally sourced. I highly recommend it. Plus, it's inexpensive; I only paid €22 for my main course, dessert, an aperitif, and a coffee!

We absolutely had to eat aligot before heading back from our weekend in Cantal (yes, I know, normally here it's truffade). The aligot was incredible, and the setting was perfect! The view is breathtaking. The owner is super friendly, and we had a wonderful time listening to the cowbells in the neighboring meadow.
