Auberge Le Chene sur Violay

Hello, We ate at Le Chêne yesterday, A little disappointed... Indeed, the frogs' legs were a bit small, some were really overcooked, and they certainly forgot to add salt during cooking (that's not so bad, we can add it later to our liking 😉). And no vegetables were served with the frogs' legs... that's a shame... Some fries, beans, or a gratin would have been nice, but nothing... The dry cheese was very good and the starter was decent, no complaints there. The ice cream scoops were a bit unusual: the chocolate was very sweet and the pistachio was rather bland and less prominent in the bowl... a shame. Perhaps this is a combination to avoid, as the chocolate flavor was too strong; maybe you should just order two scoops of pistachio on their own 😉. The set menu was €29 nonetheless. The restaurant and staff were pleasant.

A truly wonderful culinary discovery! We had an excellent time at Le Chêne. The food is delicious, generous, and prepared with high-quality ingredients. The waitstaff is very welcoming and attentive, and the service is seamless from start to finish. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It's a fantastic place with excellent value for money!

I was very disappointed with the fried food; it wasn't crispy at all, it was dry, hard, and tasteless. I think it was prepared the day before, just like the dry gratin dauphinois. You had to search for the cream, and don't even get me started on the cheese on top—the crust was so hard I couldn't cut it with a knife. The fried food itself was probably from the day before. The lentil terrine was excellent, as was the honey dessert. The waitresses were very friendly and quick.

Passing through, we were delighted to discover this restaurant where we had lunch for two for €44 (set menu with a bottle of sparkling water, a non-alcoholic aperitif, and two coffees): excellent value for money! The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and the service attentive: a very pleasant experience enjoying delicious and beautifully presented dishes.
