Auberge l'Ecurie sur Sancerre

One of the few restaurants open late and with a wide selection. The lamb shoulder was very good, perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. Also, since one of us had a slight stomach ache, they even made us pasta without vegetables, charging us only €3 (very fair). The only downside is that the seats on the outside benches are a bit uncomfortable.

A hearty lunch enjoyed on a Sunday. The dining room is air-conditioned and there's an outdoor terrace at the entrance to Sancerre's town center. We received a warm welcome and the service was pleasant. The interior is a beautiful, traditional setting, converted from a stable, with lovely exposed beams. There was a slight wait for our order, but nothing serious. We enjoyed cocktails as an aperitif, followed by a meal with a starter, main course, cheese/dessert, and a bottle of wine. Excellent poached egg in red wine sauce (€14.50), salmon and warm goat cheese salad (€15.50), Berrichon burger (€15.60), and pike quenelle with Sancerre wine sauce (€17.80), half a goat cheese and iceberg lettuce sundae (see photos): €110 for two. We treated ourselves, but the prices are reasonable if you want something simple and quick, with dishes, salads, burgers, etc., at €15/€16/€17, a children's menu (€9.90), and set menus at €25.40 and €33.80. And also Calf's Head at €18.90, numerous pizzas around €15, Steak Tartare, Winemaker's Terrine at €12.90, Pasta with Crottin Sauce at €16.10, Royal Beef Steak with Foie Gras at €24, Lamb Shoulder with Thyme at €18.50, Authentic Troyes AAAAA Andouillette at €17.90, Fish and Chips at €17.20... The portions are generous and the service is quick and efficient with very little waiting. We had a lovely 1.5 hours enjoying everything and then strolled around the city. Visited in August 2026 for lunch.

While the menu itself wasn't particularly inspiring due to the limited selection of dishes (pizza, burgers, meat, fish), the food served was ultimately simple and tasty. Of particular note was the half-pizza option with salad: a popular choice in the summer.

Good food made with fresh ingredients, very pleasant staff. Excellent value for money.

It was a hot day, 30+. We ate outside under the parasol. Nice, atmospheric location! It was busy. They handled it well. The food and drinks were okay.

Restaurant and pizzeria. Air-conditioned. Shaded outdoor terrace. XXL salads and pizzas of the same style. Very nice.

It was a perfectly ok burger but we asked for medium rare and got well done. Otherwise perfectly ok
