More than fabulous: the BEST of my entire life! (My life = 200 nights per year on average, 3 continents, 60 countries). A hostel furnished with multiple large, cozy, and airy spaces, all in a classic (yes!) barrel-style decor that inspires a radiant history without anything feeling "old-fashioned." The breakfast served at the table is lovely and of superior quality (everything is homemade). The restaurant is gourmet, and the major success: the price isn't bad because the high quality, flavors, harmonies, and quantity are all there. Large, modern rooms with a bathroom worthy of Cleopatra. The pool and spa are super clean and super modern, and in keeping with this atmosphere of timeless perfection. And the service: wow, the service is provided by very attentive, very kind, and very professional staff, without being obsequious. Attentive and even considerate... The fifth-generation owner is in the kitchen. Personally, I think Etchebest should come here for a refresher... "The French tradition of hospitality and quality still exists in reality, despite the human meditation of social media and other anorectic virtualities." The proof is here... it's worth the detour. I'll end with this: I read the lowest ratings and wondered if these people had the wrong hotel or if everything has changed since then, because these comments about the noise, the welcome, the service, the culinary quality have nothing to do with what we experienced (My mother, 85 years old, my other half, 23 years old, and I, 59 years old that day (3 nights).

We stayed at St. Walfrid twice (winter 24 and June 25). The rooms are immaculate and the dinner was an awakening of the senses. There was nothing that could have been better. Whether it was the service from the entire team, the quality of the meals prepared in the restaurant or the comfort and ambiance of the hotel, which represents an elegant fusion of rural farmhouse and luxury hotel - truly an island of serenity to relax, near the border.
