Augberge la Roselette sur Les Contamines-Montjoie

A very charming and lovely mountain refuge, with a typical chalet that truly evokes the mountain atmosphere. The welcome was also very pleasant and warm. The dinner and picnic were more than generous, perfect after a good day of hiking! There were only a few of us there during our stay, so the large 18-person dormitory didn't bother us at all. A wonderful stopover that we thoroughly enjoyed.

We arrived at the Roselette refuge in early August and received a very warm welcome from the two women who were there. The location is magnificent with a beautiful view. The bivouac area is quite large and flat (which isn't always the case). The meal served was very good, as was the breakfast. The sanitary facilities are a bit outdated; we weren't able to shower because there wasn't enough water available (which is beyond the refuge's control).

We camped overnight. The welcome was quite good. However, after a long day of hiking, you're really looking forward to a shower. Well, no such luck. With the declared drought, there were no showers. Disaster. So we struggled... Then, the view is magical, and having a drink on that terrace is amazing. Dinner: I thought it was just okay, with soup as a starter, meat and rice, and a dessert I can't quite place. Breakfast: definitely needs improvement. Not at all suited to hiking. So there you have it...

After spending a month in Peru, I reconnected with two wonderful people I had met there! And the call of the mountains was too strong! A truly beautiful and authentic place. I don't remember the name of the young woman who was working there when I was there in August 2023, but she was very good at her job! I admit I opted for comfort, and I'm glad I chose the caravan; I slept very well (the only downside was the price: 80 euros). The starting point for a ten-hour hike, with fantastic scenery and a moderately challenging route, is to be in very good shape. In short, the food was very good and, above all, very welcome! Don't hesitate, go for it!

I spent a night at the Refuge de la Roselette during the Tour du Beaufortain. Beyond the spectacular location and the authentic charm inside the chalet, I especially wanted to highlight the warmth and kindness of the welcome (thank you to the two girls!)!! Great atmosphere. I ate very well, with a special mention for the blueberry tart for afternoon tea :) Otherwise, the dormitory is clean, though the bathrooms are a bit outdated.
