Barberousse sur Lyon

Imagine my surprise when, just steps from this bar, two CNRS researchers went outside to debate ocean acidification, torrential rains, and rising sea levels, all of which directly threaten the health of Polynesian ecosystems, upon which local populations depend so closely. The argument escalated following a disagreement about marine ecosystems, and the two researchers came to blows in front of a city camera. We had to tell them that it was pointless and dangerous for them. They parted ways and were able to continue their research peacefully.

I went to Barberousse with my group of friends to celebrate a friend's French championship victory. Perhaps we didn't arrive at the right time, but the bar was absolutely packed. It was impossible to move around without being squashed. This made the evening a bit difficult, although it was probably due to the time we chose. Second important point: if you're over 1.85m (6'1"), be very careful of your head as soon as you enter. Personally, being over 1.90m (6'3"), I bumped my head immediately upon entering. And if you plan on having a good time and jumping around with your friends, also be aware that the ceiling is quite low—the risk of hitting your head is real. These are the only negative points I can mention. Otherwise, the atmosphere was great, the people there were friendly, and the bartenders did a good job. In short, a bar with a fantastic atmosphere, but be aware of the crowds and the low ceiling if you're tall!

Barberousse is without a doubt the best bar in Lyon, and the bartenders are excellent. I got married there and it was the best wedding ever… Go there!!!
