Excellent experience at a roadside restaurant! Even outside of normal hours and with the kitchen officially closed, they agreed to serve us a grilled steak with Roquefort sauce on the side, accompanied by a simply divine salad, rice, tagliatelle pasta, and French fries. The beers were great, and the lady who served us was very friendly, making an effort to speak to us in Portuguese.

Honestly, this is my second time there. It's simple, very good, just perfect, I thoroughly enjoyed it. (Christophe Garitte)

Au Bon Coin

09/11/2025: I'm in the restaurant business (25 years of experience) and I had already eaten there about ten years ago. At the time, the decor was a bit dated but authentic, adorned with photos of French celebrities who had dined there. They served excellent quality, traditional, home-style cooking at very reasonable prices. I wanted to repeat the experience on a Sunday in November 2025. That day, there was no set menu, only à la carte service. I don't mind the concept, but it's not mentioned anywhere on the website—a first disappointment that you only discover once you're seated at your table. A second regrettable point: the prices and the menu items don't match those displayed online, and the menu itself is incomplete. This is a shame and not very reassuring for the customer. On the plate: sweetbreads for €24—a good quality product, well prepared, but the side dish (salad and homemade fries) was very basic. In my opinion, it wasn't good value for money. To give you an idea, an all-you-can-eat restaurant offering baked salmon, leg of lamb, turbot, seafood, green beans, and rice costs the same. A little more effort on the side dishes would therefore be welcome. The same goes for the starters. The bill came to €98 for two people. For comparison, the gourmet restaurant L’Interprète in Pau offers a six-course menu (amuse-bouche, starter, two main courses, pre-dessert, and dessert) for €72, with incomparable value for money. In short: Le Bon Coin remains a pleasant place to eat during the week, but on Sundays, the experience unfortunately falls short of expectations.
19/09/2025: Excellent menu at a reasonable price. Three years later, still excellent.
