Café Brant sur Strasbourg

A place that remains as pleasant as ever thanks to its atmosphere, the service is perfect, and the food is delicious.

The café is classy. I was there in March on a beautiful sunny day. You can see the magnificent Wilhelminian university building and sit outside in the sun. Lunch was very good, light as the day itself. The white wine was a bit too warm, but for Strasbourg, they had a pretty good selection of wines by the glass. Inside, it's very pretty, lovely for teatime, for example. The building is almost Parisian. Well, you have to expect a certain number of snobs. At least, that's what I experienced. The handsome old man with a three-day beard, sunglasses, and a ponytail. The two guys in Barbour suits with gelled hair and bright red faces from the little bit of sun. But next to me sat the dear old man with the sports newspaper. All in all, a touch of chic at lunchtime and a fantastic steak tartare. 👍🏻 🥂

Café Brant in Strasbourg always reminds me of the kind of place I imagined when thinking about France — a classic café-restaurant with a charming atmosphere. I don’t know much about its history, but every visit feels like stepping into that timeless French café culture. The ambiance is wonderful, the waiters are very kind and welcoming, and the food is solid and enjoyable. A lovely place to sit, relax, and experience the spirit of Strasbourg.

Founded in 1898, the building itself is a cultural heritage site in the Neustadt district, and is a long-established cafe with a classic, relaxed atmosphere. For breakfast, I ordered a croissant for €1.80, an omelette for €7.50, and a cafe latte for €5.40. The croissant was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It was simple, but just the right lightness for a morning meal. The omelette was just the right amount of filling and delicious. The cafe latte seemed a little pricey, but it was just the right amount to sip slowly in the relaxed atmosphere. I recommend it for breakfast before exploring Strasbourg.
